997 Headlight Bulbs

I have a 2007 Carrera with the GT3 Front Bumper... What are possible headlight and Fog light upgrades to make it brighter (maybe more blue)... I saw some threads talking about 6000k or 8000k, it would help if someone explained and posted some links to buy the correct lights, Thanks.

I think some 6000K HID with ROTtec DRL would look real good. 8000K gets purple and looks bad. 6000K is as white/blue as you probably want to go without it looking too rice.

What rear bumper is that in your picture?

This bulb gives a whiter than stock look. You can also get a high beam bulb that comes close to matching the HID.

If you don't have HID, then forget the D2S.

Hoen (and others) have bulbs. Check your owner's manual for the correct replacement number.

Sorry, i am not trying to hijack the thread. Since the mention of xenons not being present came up, i thought i would ask.

I thought all 911s came with xenons.

Didn't become standard equipment on 997 Carerra until model year 2009 - prior it was an option (except on the S).

Sorry, I thought you had HID (Xenon) headlights. Please disregard what I said, but you do want to come as close as you can to no higher than 6000K on regular bulbs too, although I am not sure how they would be called.

That said, perhaps the upgrade you should be looking at is HID! It is quite a difference. You can go OEM route and there are also after market kits.

How is the quality on that NR rear bumper? It looks so good, but I don't want a flimsy piece of plastic in the rear, is it sturdy and feels OEM quality?

I would avoid Hoen for HID bulbs. They sent me a pair, one of them didn't work, they promised a replacement (which never arrived), and they eventually just stopped returning emails. What a scam.

The best D2S bulbs I've tried are from MTEC. The MTEC 6000k's are a really nice pure white (brighter and with a nicer beam pattern compared to the Hoen's), and they seem just as bright as the OEM Philips bulbs. Just google MTEC D2S, they're very popular and there's lots of reviews/feedback.

Maybe it's the luck of the draw, but I've been buying bulbs from Hoen for 5 years and have never had a defective product. Two months ago, bought their D2S for my 997 and so far (fingers crossed), no problems. So good product = no customer service issues - just my experience.

What do you guys think about these for 6000K HID bulbs:
http://www.amazon.com/MAXLUX-Xenon-6...hu-rd_add_1_dp

They are $33/pair and have good reviews.

Also, how hard is it to replace bulbs?

you can convert what ever kind of light you have to a hid, then you can choose the color you want and put every bulb to that same color #
sounds like you are talking about a 6000k. light blue color.

Easy to replace the HID bulb...in fact easier than the high beam bulb. Instructions in owner's manual.
