My experience is the doors stay unlocked as long as the Frunk is open.

Shoot! I couldn't find the DIY you mentioned. Is it under the DIY sticky thread?

My car re-locks after a period of time.

Opening the trunk with the key remote does NOT unlock the doors. However, if you do unlock the doors with the key remote and don't open the door, the doors do relock automatically.

That's wild, because last night I went out to my car and the Frunk, hatch and doors were open. I don't know how long, maybe I set it off by putting my keys in my pocket. Anybody know of a DIY fix (other than taking out the battery) or replacement key fob? I only want the door unlock and the transmitter so it knows which key (I suspect without that there could be problems).

My doors do unlock when I unlock the trunk. I don't think it is related to my SmartTop.

Mine's an 08 turbo, no SmartTop - tried it this morning. Locked the car with the remote then opened the trunk with the remote - no audible lock noise and the doors were locked. Strange behaviour. Maybe I should have waited longer before unlocking the trunk - I'll try later today.

Tried it again with longer wait time - trunk open with remote does not unlock doors.

How strange... now it's a mystery because I just ran out to try mine. When the doors are locked and I open the trunk, the doors unlock automatically. The door re-lock after about 30 seconds.

Is this a programmable setting somehow? I definitely would like to program a longer delay if possible. But I do like the unlock feature - when I put bags in the trunk a store parking lot, I can hop into the car without then having to unlock the doors. Minor but pleasant convenience.

Maybe the 08 is different, as mine behaves exactly like Rye595's 07.

Sounds like yours is the norm - not sure why mine is different - here's what the 997.1 owner's manual says:

If the vehicle was locked, it is unlocked simultaneously
with the luggage compartment.
In vehicles with seat memory the stored seat and
door mirror positions are automatically set.
The vehicle will be locked again approx.
15 seconds after the luggage compartment is
closed if none of the doors was opened.

Mine behaves exactly like this. The doors remain unlocked as long as the luggage compartment is open. Weird it sounds like others automatically lock despite the Frunk remaining open? What I don't like about it is if the Frunk or Targa hatch is inadvertently opened, the car remains wide open. I wonder if when the car is unlocked the security system is deactivated?

Matthiew is infamous around these parts
I think they changed the frunk switches from 996 to 997 not the location however. My 996 got a little sand in the frunk switch and it would open up intermitantly. Just an alternative if key fix is not 100%. In the end the grit wiggled free. Canned air may have helped.
