Aftermarket Steering Wheels

Where is the best place to get an aftermarket steering wheel? I have the regular triangular shaped airbag and want to keep it if possible. I am basically looking for something thicker in leather and more sporty. Any ideas? I looked at Suncoast but heard there are better aftermarket ones for less $$.

Thanks!

Sw

Check w Don Le @ DALLAS SW. He has done 3 diff SWs, all great.
Most were made thicker, thumbrests when needed, choice of color and stitching as well.
Not very expensive and very quick turn a round.

I got my CF SW from DCT like many others. The quality is as good as OE and you can completely customize the SW to your liking with colors, materials and shapes.

I had my wheel wrapped in Alcantara and padded by him. Came out really nice and was about $350. Best to buy a core on eBay and then have it wrapped and save the stock wheel for when you sell the car. Worked well for me.

Thanks I contacted both companies you guys suggested. I was wondering if anyone removed their own wheel as a DIY. Is it easy to do on your own and do you need any special tools? I am thinking about going with SW Dallas and they want me to send them my wheel with a 4-5 day turnaround. Any tips for the DYI or with the airbag, should I have the dealer do it?

You can do it yourself easily, just make sure to DISCONNECT the battery.

DCT built my custom wheel to order and sent it to me. I had the dealer install it for $120 so that I didn't have to mess with the airbag. Now all I got to do is send the core back. It was a very painless experience. I'm not sure how I would feel about having to send my SW out first and wait for it to get done.

It is a pretty easy job to swap wheels. I've done it many times. I'm in OC if you need any tips. Feel free to PM me.

There is a DIY on the board. You need to get a hex bolt or a twelve point tool. I used a hex key socket. Disconnect the battery, push through the hole with a hex wrench to release the airbag, release the wires, and unbolt the wheel. Very easy DIY.
