New C2 09 911--need some advice

Hi,

I am a new owner of a Porsche 911 C2 PDK and I would like to know what are the best cleaning products to 1.) Clean the car on a regular basis and 2.) a full detailing.

I have only had the car for a week but I want to start putting together my supplies cause I am just not the last minute sort of guy. It's pretty much brand new with 6k miles and the car is pristine.

thanks

Congrats! nice ride.

There are a lot of options for cleaning products -- you may want to check out the detailing section of 6speed. Glistening Perfection is where I have went for all of my car cleaning products. Ask Moe at GP what he recommends. He knows car cleaning (polishing, waxing etc.) products very well!

thanks!! I appreciate the advice. I didn't see the detailing section of the forum so my apologies there. I have been reading the forums for a while reading about different issues with all of the different 911 models out there. Even though it's just been a week, it's been a blast to drive. I have owned an M3 in the past and a BMW 135, however, I find this car to be just better all around. The first thing I have noticed is the build quality so far feels amazing. Can't wait for better weather!!

Thanks!! Been looking around at these suggestions and it's a bit confusing as what's the best products. I have heard of zaino before. In the past I just used meguires (sp?) that I bought at Walmart but in the past I just wanted a clean car and now I want to protect and maintain the cars finish. Thanks again

Congratulations on your new acquisition. I've found that cleaning products are like oil, gasoline brands, and tires, i.e., everyone has a different opinion as to what's the best. I agree with 911cv that you should spend some time reading the posts on the detailing forum. Nearly every question you might have has already been asked and discussed there.

Silver PDK, Congrats on the new purchase.

There are literally thousands of products out there and with few exceptions, most are good products when used in the right situation. The tricky part is bringing out the right product at the right time. Assuming your car is in good shape (based on picture, guessing yes) I would want the following items on hand...

Car wash soap
Lambswool mit
Rim brushes
Rim cleaner (P21S works well)
lots of terry or microfiber towels
medium clay bar and lube (lumiere is a good product here)
fine polish (griots garage makes a good product)
wax (I would go with a paste carnuba wax, lots out there, but don't spend over 50$ unless you plant to put your car in a show...)

Since you have a silver car, you can probably get by without a duster. Dust doesn't show much on a silver car...so no stress.

As mentioned by others, the "detailing forum" is a great resource. You can post your questions there and get a response from an expert within a day.

Check out Griots Garage products. I've used them for a long time and have had great results.

Thanks for all of your responses. I went to the detailing second and complied a list of products and surprisingly enough my list matches yours exactly. Just trying to find which product to go with at the moment. Right now the paint on the car is just perfect so I am just going to try and maintain what's there. Also looking into clear bra paint protection.
