WARNING About Rottec Seats!!

This is just a warning to all 6speed members thinking of purchasing from Ray or Rottec. VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE! I purchased a set of seats 10/06 on 10/20 I received 2 poorly packaged, Very poor quality damaged seats missing hardware. I snap a few pics and contact Ray at Rottec. 3 days later I receive a email requesting pics. I gladly send pics of damaged seats, and the insides of this little flimsy box where the seats were poorly packed. Wait another 5 days for Ray to respond. Rays response was "I can send you new seat covers and you can get them repaired or I will pick them up and repair them" I think to myself..Wait a minute, didn't I just purchase new seats, not "repaired" seat? So I email Ray back, explain that I did in fact order NEW seats, not REPAIRED new seats and that's what I would like. He argued with me back and forth over the course of nearly 2 months now and this still isn't resolved!

Then Ray in his almighty wisdom contacted the moderators for help resolving this issue. Shortly there after I recieve a call from Bob, one of the moderators asking if he could help. I explain the situation and he agrees with me. If I paid for "new" seats I should receive "new" seats... Not "repaired" new seats. He contacts Ray and tells him exactly that. He gives Ray 3 days to respond and he doesn't. I ask Bob if it was ok if I share my experience with the crew on 6speed in a effort to help others from getting burned from this guy and he agrees.

SO JUST A WARNING GUYS, ROTTEC DOES NOT STAND BEHIND ANYTHING THEY SELL NOR ARE THESE QUALITY PARTS! I AM NOT EVEN SURE I WOULD WANT TO BE IN THESE SEAT IN THE EVENT OF A ACCIDENT! I HIGHLY DOUBT THESE SEATS HAVE BEEN CRASH TESTED IN ANY WAY. THESE ARE CLEARLY VERY POOR QUALITY CHINA PARTS! KEEP THIS IN MIND AS YOUR GUYS ARE RACING AROUND THE TRACK.

Sadly 2 months later I had to file a claim with my credit card company for a charge back and I am still dealing with this!
All I asked for was a replacement set of seats or my money back.... Neither of which he was will to do! Keep this in mind guys.

i am sorry to add to your concerns but if you want good seats there are only 2 good proven options - first is OEM porsche, second is Recaro.

I TOTALLY AGREE! Rottec seats are VERY poor quality with matching costumer service!

Maybe they got destroyed at customes? No insurance on shipping? Ray is a cool guy. He went out of the way for me even though i didnt purchase the item from him and i needed help.

I would gladly send you all the emails from Ray, where he went out of his way to repair new seats and not replace them or I could send them back and he would charge me a 20 percent restocking fee. Who wants repaired seats at new prices? Lastly...Its not my job to ensure them its the retailers! These were so poorly packed it was almost unbelievable.

I hear you i mean maybe they were packed nice but when stuff gets into the customes officers hands they tare up the boxs ect. but i feel your pain it sucks. see maybe they can cover it threw insurance. Good luck

Its been 2 months now, all I asked for were NEW seats or a refund... Neither of which he would do! That is the entire point of this post! Ray doesn't care once he has your money! How long would you wait for something like this to be taken care of?

If he couldn't deliver new seats in 2 weeks he should have issued a credit for the damaged set and accepted the damaged ones back into his inventory. He could have then advised you as to when he could ship another set to you. Kind of simple but there are those vendors that don't get it.

I recently purchased a set of Rennline grilles for my 09 C2S to go with the newly installed aero kit. Somehow I did not get the correct set. One phone call and they figured out the issue. They sent a new set the same day with a return tag in the packaging. It doesn't get much better than that. I've had Rhonda at FVD overnight a muffler from Germany for my Cayman S when she thought it was in stock in the US and it wasn't. I didn't get charged for the extra freight cost. There are some really good vendors out there. It's a shame that there a few without a clue. Some of these people must have a copy of 'Customer Service and Why You Don't Need It' by Windward

Hi Bryant, I believe you miss some info. with this whole story. We first received notice for damage seats by 18th Oct. We have about 20 emails exchanged and I offer you replace or repair options. While we’re dealing with resolve options, you already file credit card charge back by 4th Nov. By the mean time, you agreed to mail you brand new covers and trim and we pay for professional shop for install. Once I request for written quotations from the shop, you just refuse to deal with us and insist to go thought Credit Card Company. The last email I’ve received from you is 19th Dec and you said you have your money back and the seats will be boxed up sitting on your step.

I’ve email Bob and Chuck regarding this and I reply Bob’s emails all the time. We have followed your instruction along and try to come up with solutions. But you refuse either replace or brand new covers options. Now you have both seats and money on your side and stop contact us for last 3 weeks. What we can only submit all necessary doc. To deal with credit card charge back. You’re still asking for refund or we sent you new pair of seats?

Shipping damage happen. We offer replacement or repair and try to get the solution for him as quickly as I can. But since he file charge back with cc and took full payment away and stop contact us directly for 3 weeks. We have no choice to deal with cc instead.

So now he has full payment back to his cc since 19th Nov and a pair of damage seats on hand. He still ask us to ship him a pair of new replacement seats for free? Is that what a vendor should do?

There are always two sides of the any story. I'm glad Ray was able to chime in
with his side. I always found him reasonable and very helpful.

His story is not true... He offered to repair and replace! I will be more then happy to take replacements or a refund.
