Reason #1: Pike's Peak is 14,115 feet above sea level. It only makes sense to drive your forced induction twin turbo up there to compensate for the lack of oxygen! Anybody out there able to give him the calculation between the HP of a 911TT and an A3 at 14,115' above sea level?

Reason #2: I am assuming this is not a trip you will get to do very often. Looking back later in life, what will you want to remember (and what will be more bad *** to remember) taking a twin turbo 911 or an A3 across the country on some of our most wonderful, twisty and scenic roads? Its the difference between saying I took Miss USA to a movie and I took Miss USA to bed!

Anybody else have more reasons to share?

Really looking forward to your posts! Our cross country trip was really a highlight for my wife and I. Reconnecting after a fifteen-month deployment, seeing the sights, and driving the best car that either of us had ever driven!

I think we might just have to do it again!

That's great news! It is good for me to know that I can still get a decent amount out of my '05 in the event that decide to move to an '09 or, dare I say, a 991!

I have 80,000 miles on my 2006 Carrera S. Think I need alt cable. I have slow cranking on start and if it should stall it seems like the car is not going to start and other cars will start blowing there horns. Love the car.

I bought the car 2 months ago with 77000 miles on it. Just added 3000 miles. Had a tune up and all checks out very good. Had to replace coil packs being they had cracks.

So no warranty apparently. I'd get that starter harness replaced. My car was acting the same as yours, and after replacement (under CPO warranty), it was MUCH better, with cranking at about twice the speed.

I will be taking care of the wire harness soon. Think it will cost about 1000.00. I intend to drive the hell out of this car. I never believed in just letting cars sit in the garage and depreciate. I had 4 corvettes and used them every chance I got.

2005 997 C2 Cab

I have a late model (March 2005 construction) 997 C2 Cab with 60,000 miles: clutch replacement, lock assembly replacement, driver's safety belt replacement. Runs beautifully. Everything tip top. According to the engine number it has the newer intermediate shaft bearing assembly, which cannot be retrofitted with the LE Engineering version. My 997 has both PASM and Sport Chrono. When I push in the "Sport" button, it turns into a beast. I drove it 1,600 miles on IS95 recently - no issues. Cicerosecundus
