Light sound deadening materials

We are use to useing dynamat for sound deadening...has technology not moved in this arena? Im sure there are now more effective sound deadening materials that are lighter and more effective. I want to lessen tire and road noise on my 997.2 by putting some material on strategic points in the car. Any experience from our brothers???

ear plugs ;-)

Seriously, I haven't heard of any other material for sound deadening. But I don't find the noise level in my GTS to be that high. I found that when I switched from the MPS to the MPSS my 09 C2S was a bit quieter.

Good luck with your search.

Have you thought about a louder exhaust, or perhaps some different tires.

Yes these are all there. However, i prefer to do a mod to really decrease road and tire noise without changing tire brand or what.

Sounds like your mind is made up, however if you start throwing sound deadening everywhere you may end up just throwing money at it, and not solving anything. The 911 is a sports car, and IMO road noise is down the list of things that they should be reducing, perhaps you have the wrong car for your needs if this is a huge priority for you.

Nope exactly the right car. Just a few more upgrades and it becomes exactly the perfect car. One of our brothers did this same mod hope he can shed light-"pictures" on the subject

There is a popular company on the Stereo forum sites called Second Skin. I have heard good things about their products, but I am not sure if being lighter is one of them.....http://www.secondskinaudio.com/

In fact, they make a product that can be sprayed on. I wonder if you can spray the outside rear tire wells. I would think that would help tremendously.

Choose the best

Choosing the right brand and product can be complicated. Our easy to install car sound deadener by working on the metal surface of the car. If you are a novice, we suggest you search some videos on YouTube to learn how to do this properly.
