I started mine the other day after not driving it for a week, a little white smoke came out of the exhaust for a few seconds - is that normal or does it mean teh aos is failing? How can I check to be sure?

So apparently the AOS can make this sound when it is going bad... good to know.
Good to hear the sound is gone. I found that mu 06 C2S would smoke upon first starting it, white smoke for 15-20 seconds. I drive the car one day every week or two (3,500 miles per year) and never tracked. I mentioned this to my service advisor. He had a half qt less oil put in at my last service in April at 31,000 miles. NO SMOKE any more. NO noise either.

I found this thread to be very informative. Thanks

I asked Porsche and they said a little white smoke from exhaust after not being driven for a few days is normal, a big plume of white smoke though means the aos is failing/failed.

There is a difference between a "little" white smoke and a "plume" of smoke like a coal train chugging down the tracks!

If you are embarrassed to be seen in your car with the amount of smoke that comes out on start ups... now your getting the picture.... AOS is probably on its way out.

There is a way to test this. The techs check this by removing the the oil cap slowly while the car is running... If you hear a loud sucking sound coming from the oil cap as its removed and then the idling of the car drops... then that means the AOS and crank case is backed up with oil, creating a strong vacuum, and oil is not getting circulated properly.
This video will explain it too...

I just finished installing my new AOS. No more cloud of white smoke. Hoorah!

OOC, how much would the dealer charge for this Svc?

Thx
