Aerokit front bumper??
Aerokit front bumper??
I've only had my car about 3 weeks and the mod bug has bit me hard.
I noticed Suncoast has the Aerokit front bumper conversion for about $1400.
I talked with the best local bodyshop (and most expensive) and got a "quote" for somewhere around $700 to paint and install the bumper. I think this is reasonable considering the quality of work they do, i.e. it will look OEM.
My question is does this conversion require any extra parts or extra cost beyond just the cost of the bumper from suncoast? Any brackets, fittings, electrical, or any other things that might nickle and dime a project like this out of my budget.

Josh,
The 997.1 Aerokit conversion kit comes with everything required. You will have to reuse some stock pieces from your current bumper (lights, center grille, & hardware), but the kit will come with everything else required. It's a great bumper, and a great value for stock parts.
The bumper comes in primer, so it's ready for paint prep and paintwork. Not much to it.

Just got mine (thanks suncoast) back from paint guy yesterday and can't wait to put it on! They would have put it on for me but I'm letting it cure a few more weeks before install (as I will have clear bra put on too). A good body shop will scan your existing paint (I gave them the gas door) and get paint match right on (especially important if you have a metallic paint).
That said, if you don't have a pick up, full size van or large SUV (Expedition/Tahoe size), ship directly to your body shop. I have a GX470 and with it inside I had to adjust the seats and felt like this

Go for it

cool
I did this a few months ago and I love it. It totally transforms the appearance of the car and it got a ton of compliments from every car person I know (including dealers on other lots when I visited with my friends).
One thing I would highly recommend is some protection for the spoiler lip. No matter how careful you are, you will scrape it, and the damage will be visible right away. I posted about a great cheap solution I found over at Rennlist (http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforum...errerid=109983
) and it has completely eliminated that issue for me.
Do it. You will love the look. And the prices you're quoting seem very fair, relative to what I paid.

neo-
Can you kindly post those pix here too? Followed your link and you have to be rennlist member to see (which I am not... as I'm sure others interested are not either)
Thanks

Sure. Here are a few shots.
I'd just add that I've now had this on for about two months, scraped the bumper many times, and it still looks perfect. If I put my hand under the bumper, I can feel some minor fraying, but it's completely invisible and there's no sign it will spread outwards. Even if it does, because it is a solid rubber, and not a painted piece of plastic like the lip, it won't be visible unless you are really looking for it. It's a great addition.

That's an interesting solution. If I do it I'll paint the removable lower lip black, I think it'll hide scratches better and since I'm not planning on doing side skirts keep the car from looking front heavy. It would be a good thing to have no matter what color the lip is though.

where can we get those , btw ?
Thanks. With my GT3 black lip, I'll probably just go w/ door edge guard trim (very similar to what you have). Not sure what I'll do on my body color lip... at least black door guard but may look into something like yours... course my paint is already done

I got it done at my body shop, Los Gatos Collision. According to them, the company that fabricated them is called Pro Trim, and they have them for all colors.
The number for Pro Trim is (408) 978-2188.

Looks great Neo! That molding is a great idea, good thinking!

Thanks! I love you guys, and order all my stuff through you now. Keep us posted on all the new toys you have for us!
Aerokit bumper looks great but it is a PIA to keep it non-damaged. My lip is scratched at the bottom but it is not visible so not a big problem. My car has the H R lowering springs which makes it impossible to keep it in good shape.
