Extended Warranty (4 Year/48K miles)
Subscribecholmes1, denversteve's message is from March 2012. He may not be following this topic. I am also still looking around to see if I can find a decent extended warranty for my 2008 C2 at a reasonable price. I am afraid that cheap means useless and I got wild estimates (as high as $8500 for 4years/50K mi.)

The car's a 2008 C4S w/23K miles.
Any advice of as to the competitiveness of this offer would be greatly appreciated. I'm torn as to move forward with it or not.
That sounds about right, I bought the same warranty last year, also from the Porsche dealer - it was about $5000 but my car is older (05) and had 38,000 miles at the time.Originally Posted by NugeC4S

I always find these extended warranty discussions interesting.
We are actually (in this case) betting around 3.5 k that the car will need more than that in repairs over the next 4 years. If that was the case then the insurer would not "put up the bet"
I understand if you own a year that has been riddled with problems, IMS etc etc.
It would be interesting to hear people's experience.
I had 2 extended warranties, in both cases held till the end and never repaired as much as paid. I guess there is a price for "sleeping well"

I just a got a quote for $4176 from Costco for 6 years, 60,000 miles (2007 with 24K miles). From an insurance point of view they are working off probability on a large number of cars. For example, use 10 cars so the max they can pay out is 0.85*10cars*Premium (in this case $4167). Another way to look at it is if they are betting that 4 out of 10 cars have problems and the other 6 have minimal problems which, as long as the combined cost doesn't exceed 85% of collected premium, they make their return. The problem for us is are we the 4 out of 10 or the 6 out of 10?Originally Posted by tiyyara
