The peak torques are 1200 RPM earlier on the 997.2 cars than 991s. Doesn't this mean that the 997.2 cars are actually easier to drive around town than the 991's? Unless they changed the gear ratio significantly which I would doubt. Anyone test drive a 991 already?

997.2

Torque: 288 ft-lbs. @ 4400 rpm
Horsepower: 345 hp @ 6500 rpm

991

Torque: 287 ft-lbs. @ 5600 rpm
Horsepower: 350 hp @ 7400 rpm

997.2 S

Torque: 310 ft-lbs. @ 4400 rpm
Horsepower: 385 hp @ 6500 rpm

991 S

Torque: 325 ft-lbs. @ 5600 rpm
Horsepower: 400 hp @ 7400 rpm

 

who is to say that the 991 S doesn't make

as well? the difference is, it makes even more HP at higher RPMs.

this doesnt mean that the 991S doesnt make as much if not more torque than the 997 @4400 RPM

 

I might mean that you need to keep the revs up on a 991 to get the power you want. My 2008S pulls nicely from 3000 rpm.

 

I like having max torque around 5k rpm's. It's the zoom zone on our cars. Never feels out of control though, just pulls like a son of a gun.
