997.2 Black Edition Carrera Coupe VS 991 Carrera Coupe
Good evening folks,
As I plan to shop for the New 911 (991), I randomly ran into this brand new 2012 911 Carrera Black Edition Coupe. I like the package that comes with it, although it is missing PDK (nice to have it for sure, but not a must for me), PASM (I wonder how much different this makes for daily usage), and full leather interior (doesn't bother me very much). In fact, the 6 speed manual gearbox kind makes the coupe more unique to me as most of them are made with PDKs.
The price tag comes down to $30k less than the 991 Carrera Coupe which I had configured (local dealer isn't willing to move the 991 price at all). I am pretty sure they want to move that last 997 they have in their lot, so my question for you guys is how much additional discount I should ask to be fair? Also, writhing them a $100k cheque is probably the last thing I will do; therefore, has anyone got good advise on leasing (lease to own, as I want to collect this one at the end), financing? What kind of rates will I be looking for when dealing with Porsche Canada Finance?
All your inputs, suggestion, recommendations, thoughts are highly appreciated. Thank you everyone for the time spending reading my post. I wish the very best of everything for you.

Lease the Black Edition for two or three years. You'll enjoy having saved a significant amount of money vs. getting the 991. Plus you get a manual transmission and the joy of driving something more unique.
Then, in a few years time, upgrade to a 991 when the lease incentives start rolling in on those.
Problem solved. You're welcome.

Lease to own is typically a very poor financial strategy in car buying. Either buy the car you can afford, or lease the car and turn it back in at the end of the lease period as was suggested.
For the record, I agree with this. However when taking into account a significant discount on the actual selling price, the situation could become advantageous.
Thanks guys. Really appreciate your information.
I have scheduled an appointment to visit the dealership again early this week and will go for an actual test drive then discuss more detail about the numbers.
Here's my plans:
1. Bring in the car I wish to trade in and see what kind of number they come up with. (Dealers here seem to undervalue trade vehicles quite often, I was offered $8000 below the Canadian Black Book value last year when I was about to trade in my other BMW for an SUV and of course it was a no go)
2. The price tag on this Black Edition is $96k(Canadian), even if I decide to lease it, what sort of discount I should be expecting? 10k off the sticker? 15k off the sticker?
Thanks again and I will report back the result later

My 09 CPO was $40k off stick with 5k miles on it, but it was officially used <about a year and half old as it was sold Jan 10.
I would say this...out of ALL the decisions I have made buying a Porsche, nothing has been more important and there is nothing about the car I have been happier with then getting PDK. For me, PDK is the first and last option I have and will have from here on out. It has different value for different people, but going forward more and more people are going to want PDK's if resale is a question.....ESPECIALLY in a Caby <We usually don't track our cars or mod the poo out of them>, hence our Caby crowd tends to gravitate more towards the Auto's. With PDK we get the best of both worlds.

I totally agree with you that PDK is a must for Cab. I probably wouldn't track a Cab if I ever own one.
Latest update:
So I visited the dealership again and this time we went for a real test drive and sat down talking about numbers and detail. I like the car; the way it handles is very different from my M3. Power-wise, I can't say it's quicker/slower than my M, but the low RMP torque does make it easier to live with.
I got them to apprise my trade and the number is acceptable even though still on the low side. Shockingly, I was told there rarely be any discounts for porsche cars especially buying 911 regardless of the model. After a bit of negotiation, they offered me $1000 discount on a $97k car.
Almost made me laugh at the moment I heard that. As much as I love/enjoy having a 911, I just never can convince myself to go for that kind of deal. I get more than 1k discount when buying a 18k honda civic now. That to me is just a joke.

I have manual in my cab, and wouldn't dream of having PDK in it. The performance of the cab is close to the coupe (less than 200 lbs more, and I'm guessing that the cab has a lower CG), so no one should make the mistake of thinking that the cab is some sort of softy boulevard cruiser.
