That makes me feel better. I was just wondering if there's something wrong with my car. I have a hard time getting 16mpg even with highway driving in the mix.

I don't know how you other guys get 19-20mpg... unless it's all highway.

19.9 average 60/40 street/freeway. So much traffic in Orange County its hard to find a place to drive fast for more than a few feet

13.5 for me. As previously noted, the 997.2's are more fuel efficient than the 997.1's

I drive 90% street 10% highway (if that). I spend some time pushing the car hard and some time behaving myself. It's been a year plus since a re-set and it is steady at 18.0.

Question for original poster...what gear do you ride in on the highways? If you stay in 4th or even 5th when cruising, you are losing serious MPG.

Anyhow...if you aren't a monster leadfoot, and if you keep it mostly in 6th on the highway...I would question if your MPG isn't a little low.

Utkinpol gave a pretty simple test on the first page of the thread that seems about right to me...why not try that and come back with results? Next chance I get, i will try to do the same and report back with my numbers.

on the Freeway... mine will read around 20-22 (after reseting it). but.. the moment I step on the gas at all.. it'll just drop into the high teens. I'm always in 6th gear when i'm on the fwy. My cruising RPMs are usually between 2000-3000 RPMs.

I gotta really baby it.. to keep it around 16mpg. Maybe it's just my driving habits. When you guys cruise on the streets. what RPMS are you guys usually in? under 3k? 2.5k?

I'm not hugely concerned about the fuel economy. But... I wouldn't say it wasn't a consideration. One of the reasons I picked the 997 over the E92 M3 was the fuel economy. just another reason for me to pick the 997

I have quite a long commute each week for work and it's almost 100% on the turnpike. I leave early enough to miss most traffic and I average 27.2 (over a 100 mile stretch) on the highway. Speed limit is 70 and I'm usually comfortably above that even with traffic. My overall average per tank is still above 22 most of the time. I had been driving my A8 for the commute but it gets 24MPG and isn't as fun through the mountains.
