$338K 991 Carrera S - Glad I own a 997.2
Hi all -
Heading home to LA tomorrow, but stopped by the Porsche dealer today in Kuala Lumpur as (ironically) its down the street from our stay at the Ritz Carlton. They had some beautiful 991's in stock (all 997's sold out here) including a newly delivered Carrera S Cabrio.
Just wanted to share the price sticker with my 997 friends. 1,034,614 MR - which equates to roughly $338K US for a nicely loaded Carrera S Coupe. I am more grateful than ever to own a P car in the States - this one here is a 'tad' out of my price range.
The salesman was quite friendly and gave me two hardbound sales brochures (books) on the 'new' 911. I've never seen these books in the States. Has anyone else? I can post some pictures of them. They are about 50 glossy pages in a hardbound grey book. They are beautiful.

Not far off an Australian price either. Someone is getting very rich selling Porsche cars here.
I am sure that it does not cost much more to ship a car to AU than the US.
I bought my 2005 model for more than you could buy a brand new well specced 991S in the States.
Best for me not to think about it too much...

That would be the Government.
Yeah I was recently in Bangkok Thailand and saw a few $200k+ Carrera S P-cars at the local dealer. I also saw a handful on the road. Guess that's why this guy is getting so much press

I am moving to Singapore. Singapore is one of those extremely expensive car places too.
Singapore $ is ~ $.8 USD
Permission to buy a car (COE) is about S$75K added to the price
911 Cab Carrera PDK = S$404,888 (about US $323,900)
911 Cab Carrera 4 PDK = S$430,888
911 Cab Carrera S PDK = S$449,888
911 Cab Carrera GTS PDK = S$468,888 (about US $375,000)
911 Cab Turbo PDK = S$664,888 (about US $531,000)
Effectively the additional taxes are ~ 120% of the cost of the car as determined by Singapore Customs (911 Carrera S is S$148,000)

That is pretty nuts. I go to Japan a couple times a year to visit the in-laws and am always amazed at the cost of imported cars there. The 991S starts (based on the very poor current exchange rate) at $168k. But the price in Kuala Lumpur makes that look cheap by comparison.
