What are the best Brake Pads for Street Usage?

I am in need of new pads (soon). I thought now would be a good time to do some research. I searched the forum and it seems as though a lot of people prefer to go OEM. I heard some Issues with the Pagid Yellows needing to heat up and eat up the rotors. I also read someone liked the EBC Red and they were very inexpensive ($103 - fronts).

I want to minimize the dust since my car is a daily driver. What pads are the best?

I don't think any pad will help with brake dust unless its ceramic.

OEM is good for street. I have also used and like the Padig Sports Blue. Slightly better stopping than OEM.

good luck

Pagid Yellows are great for track days; little noise with great feel and bite. I'm using EBC Red Stuff (ceramic) pads with oem rotors for the streets. Clean and good stops in cold weather. Watch out for the rear part's numbers. DP32029C are the correct pair for the Carrera S/4S and cost a little more than the fronts. So weird??!! I also use these in my Boxster S. btw nothing wrong with the oem pads either.

Recommend Hawk HPS pads on OEM rotors for street.

Little to no noise, a little less initial bite than stock when cold (but better bite when warm), virtually ZERO brake dust even after weeks of driving.

Unless you race, go OEM. If you want to save some money, go with Sachs, they are OEM without the Porsche name and about half the price.

I just read the Hawk Website - "Ferro-Carbon formula". Are these better than the EBC red (Ceramic)?

I did look at the EBC red's as well but explicitly selected the HPS non-ceramic pads because their compound is softer and therefore less likely to create premature wear/damage on OEM rotors

Yeah, I was worried about that with Ceramic brakes. I think I'll go with the HPS'.

I used HPS on my E46 M3 and they perform well for the street with very little brake dust. When it's time to replace mine that's what I'm going with.

I've use ceramic brake pads for 10+years. They are great! Never a problem. on both BMW's and Porsche's. There are a lot of choices. : )

I also used Hawk HPS on my M3. I was happy with them, although as others have said, a little less bite when cold. I did get a little squealing occasionally though, and this can be annoying.
Almost no dust, which was a lot better than OEM BMW.
