+1

No tip and certainly no 3 owner thing, wait for better cars...

Sounds like you are already going for the first choice but if trading it in will it be that much of a difference between manual and tip? I don't know if dealers really think about which one will sell faster. They usually just lowball you worse than people on craigslist.

Why a tip? Faster 0-60 times. Faster 60-130 times. Plus as other have said faster around the track for most drivers. I was a third pedal guy too but I am a convert now.
Only issues I have heard on the PCCB is tire shops damaging them during tire replacement. IIRC Once they get chipped they have to be replaced.

If you keep the car for one season... you will be dropping some hard cash in the transactions ( buying / selling / sales tax). Perhaps leasing would be a better deal and it would be negotiated before you drive off.

Is this a trick question ? The low mileage one owner car. When you get rid of it, after one season, you'll still have to convince the buyer there is nothing wrong with it when they ask why you're selling it after one season. If you trade it in, you'll lose you're shirt but not as much as you would on a car with 55 k miles +, used, 4 owner Porsche.

Anyway, more fuel for the Tiptronic fire I guess, have to guess there are less issues when you don't miss gears, then again this seems to affect low mileage cars more! I remember one horrendous missed shift in my last 996 getting off the highway, bad news bears!
Don't worry about IMS issues on cars that are 2006+ (Not sure what year is being looked at in the options above). Only some of the early 2005 cars are at risk and it is a very rare occurence - you will hear of folks having the issue on this board, however.

Dadio, tat is what I keep telling myself, low miles 1 owner CPO will beat out higher miles 6spd CPO w/ multi owners on re-sale

hroussard; Thankfully no sales tax in my state, & I just couldn't keep a sports car more than 1 season until I go true exotic, I grind dealers down to bones on cars & don't typically lose too much when its all said & done. (only my Range rover and SL500 years and years ago took huge hits)

Scooter: both cars are 2005, and both dealers say even if over-rev (can that even happen in a Tip?) it would be covered since both are Porsche CPO cars

I'm driving both dealers nuts, lol. Thanks for the great thoughts/ideas everyone, def helps!

Never heard of an over rev in a tip unless it has been flashed.

Biggest problems are Tip v.s 6-spd, & mileage, otherwise they are identical to me....HELP PLEASE
these are two completely different cars..

tip vs 6 sp..
21k vs 55k miles..
1 owner vs 3 owners..
black ext vs Slate..
black int vs tan..
PCCB vs reg brakes..

i m surprised those two cars are the only ones u can find in ur area..

i think u need to first narrow down ur wants/needs..
then find an appropriate one for u.

Porsche makes 20+ variations with endless options for a reason

i am sure u can find the one u really want.

BOL on ur hunt

BTW why wait a year for the exotic u want ?? why don't u just get it now ?

IMS only affected early 2005 models - I know there is a way to tell if the car is one of those, but not sure. A search on the board will probably yield some results. With CPO, there would not be anything to worry about. Sounds like you are getting close.

Tomorrow is D-day, time to decide. I always search across the country (picked up a 996 cab & a Viper in FL, NSX's in CT & NJ, Quattroporte in MA, SL55 in NJ, Range Rover in ME, and I always look at Apples, oranges & banana's!

When I searched the country for early 997's, I only narrowed by options (Sport Chrono, PCM, S model, all else was coincidental) Mileage only matters to me to the extent of the price, condition, and my best guess at resale.

The exotic I want has to wait until my real estate deal closes (have a prop w/ no mortgage that worked out great) and that could be in weeks or months...and driving season isn't gonna wait! Real estate isn't what I do, but I enjoy investing in it! Worst case I will trade or sell the 997. On the other hand, if I end up loving it I will mod it, keep it, and invest the extra $ =)

I don't make a lot of sense at times but there's a method to the madness

I found it & locked it up today!!!!! Many thanks to all who chimed in, made me really think and luckily only had to hold out another day to find the "right" car for me! I finally have the #30 car on my list, should be picking it up Sat, Monday at latest!!!! Pics to follow on new thread =)

It is my Fav color combo, mileage in-between both other cars, newer year, @ dealer w/ full history, new tires, same options, Porsche CPO, for same $ as lowest offer from local dealer that had higher miles + less fav color combo =D
