Hey guys just need some schooling

My stepdad is a current owner of a 2001 996 C4 Cab. It has about 110k very well maintained miles on it and is now looking to trade it into the dealer for a 2007 C4S cab that he really likes.

I just need to know what he should ask for in regards to 07' 997C4s Cabs. Any known issues etc.

Are there special reports he should be requesting besides the car fax?

He loves his 996 but feels it is now time for his next step with Porsche.

Thanks in advance

Ed

DME scan (shows any over revs) and CPO report if the are going to warranty the car. CarFax is not worth much but might help to ask some additional questions. Then get a PPI (pre-purchase inspection) done somewhere else.

Good move from 996 to 997. The 997 is more refined in terms of the cabin design and overall styling. He'll be very pleased making the 'upgrade'.

997's are pretty bulletproof. Sure there are issues w/ RMS & IMS failures but they are not a significant threat to the general 997 population.

Have him ask the dealer is they can CPO the car. It may cost him some extra dollars but it will be worth it in terms of peace of mind.

Good luck . . . . .

The NYC area has to have numerous Porsche dealers/garages that can perform a PPI.
