997 S white/light grey smoke

Ok, so thought it was the AOS so had it replaced but when we opened up the old AOS there were no punctures in the diaphragm. So I know periodically these cars puff some smoke at cold start but now she periodically smokes white/light grey smoke when she is warmed up (175 degrees) when I'm driving then put her in neutral and come to a stop at a light. Probably smoking while I'm driving too at times but the wind probably dissipates it away. So what could it be if it isn't the AOS?

That's exactly why. The catalytic converters are there for a reason....... to scrub exhaust.

Sorry, but I don't buy that.

Cars existed before catalytic exhausts, and did not smoke.

If there is smoke coming out, something is getting into the engine, and burning.

It is either going to be coolant or oil.

She tends to consume a lot of oil. Also has a BMC cold air kit and fabspeed exhaust set up.

Sounds like it's from both banks tho op has not been specific. Burning oil. I'd consider compression and leakdown test and borescope to r/o top end problems. Early for that kind of issue though. Would help to know mileage and if oil looks clean or frothy. If there is still warranty I'd put it back to stock and see if there is any change. If not I'd find a different dealer but oil consumption would have to be over the qt/600 miles if there is no cel.

How can one test if it's a bad cylinder or plugs or whatever it could be? If it's the exhaust and cat less set up then I'm ok with it. Just don't want to worry about it be something more scary.

Hi GPjli - car has 41k miles on it. Driven for 3500 miles since last May. No Cel, just had an oil change with the 40k svc and there didn't seem to be any mention of frothy oil, so guessing was clean.. As for the compression and leak down test, should I get it for an 08 with 41k miles on it?
