Well, you just convinced me to ONLY shop for a turbo LOL

I love torque, especially for street driving!

Maintenance wise, I think the consensus is to avoid the stealer and use an independent guy or DIY.
This is definitely a point of view question. I would never buy a car that wasn't certified pre-owned especially a sports car with a manual transmission. It may be cheap because they beat the **** out of it. I'm sure if you're lucky, you can find a good one, but I feel much better having a dealer to go back to if there are issues.

I guess it's a choice thing, so you should drive them all. I want a turbo, but I wouldn't buy a model that will be 2 gens old soon. Of the three, I would go for the 997.2S, but that's me. My goal is the 991 turbo convertible, so I will wait until a year after it's out and buy a low mileage CPO. I just don't know if I can keep my car that long. I get bored!

Buying a used car has some risk but you can typically tell when someone has not taken care of a car. An enthusiast keeps detailed maintenance records and the body and interior will look pretty mint. Add a PPI to it and you're pretty safe. I bought used my whole life

If it were a semi daily driver, I would definitely get something newer like the 997.2 S. For a third fun car, I don't mind an older turbo. Interior and amenities can be somewhat dated; the driving experience is what I mainly care about.

Yup, I only bought one new car (Corvette), so me too. I have had the opposite experience, which has shaped our behavior

Or...
You can buy a good 997.1 S and get used to it for a while.
Then you have several F.I. mods at your disposal (turbo, supercharger).

I had a 996 TT stock, then a 996TT X50 with a tune and a few mods (500+ HP).
When I wanted to move up to a 997, I couldn't stretch to the 997 TT, so I got the 997.1 C2S. After 9 months, I handed it over to one of the board sponsors in AZ and they added their turbo kit, new hearders and a new exhaust. Now my C2S cab makes 500 HP and I am a very happy camper

Nice !! I sort of want to keep the next vehicle as close to stock as possible. As you may know, the more you mod it, the harder it is to find the right buyer when you decide to sell. A 996 TT with a tune should keep me happy

I would buy the car with the GT1 engine. Nothing better if you are looking for a raw REAL sports car with few nannies.
