Michelin Tires

Just found a large screw in the rear tire of my 997 :-( though I think it might have been a time for a change anyway - but I wanted to choose the time for replacement!

Anyway, they have Michelin Pilot Sport N1 PS2 295/30ZR19 (100Y) on them currently but looking at Tire Rack (were I previously bought replacements) they don't seem to have that specific model any more. Any recommendations/thoughts?

Plus, a stupid question I know, but if I changed the rears to from michelin to some other brand would I have to do the same with the front?

tirerack indeed has them:

You may want to consider Super Sports though.

First, you should change ALL tires to the same model -- others have tried switching brands or even models between brands, front and rear, and have sacrificed stability, road comfort, and wear --

Second, get the Super Sports!!! Coming from Pirelli's that wore out in 9K miles, then crummy experience with Hankook's V12, these SS are fantastic all around tires and have a better TW rating than the N1 rated Pilot's. The Super Sports may get N1 rating soon, which means price will jump

Super Sports we're my choice. I have installed them on two cars.

Don't go by the website. Call TireRack. Often they have tires or sizes that aren't listed. Also, if you're not tracking the tire, why not patch it (from the inside of course)?

I love the Mich super sports, would recommend them to anyone, but seems like you still have life left on this set.

How old, how many miles, do you have road hazard insurance? I highly recommend the same tire compound/tread front and rear. Some have mixed but most tire experts will not advise this.
