Ruf Supercharger

A supercharger is a supercharger, just because it says RUF on it doesn't mean it is any better. It's not like their product is any different or more innovative than evo's to justify the huge price hike. Hell, even evo's SC is overpriced, but since the product is for a porsche 10k can be swallowed, but if anyone buys this thing for 24k that isn't just stupid, it's just a waste of a lot of money. Anyone who is at the level where they can spend that kind of money didn't get there by blowing 14k pointlessly.
X50 is a different story, it isn't just 35hp, at least you get more in the package than just that power boost, it isn't an apples to apples comparison.
I know you have a big boner for RUF, and they do amazing things and they do have my respect, but unless their supercharger is gold plated and comes with a playmate for a night it isn't worth 24k.

You get nothing more than the power boost with the X50 package unless you have a tiptronic, in which case they beef up the internals of the transmission.

You are off, first of all with a manual you get a beefed up tranny. Second of all you get the GT2 intercoolers along with the k24's. It isn't just a power boost, it's a complete package.

I'm sorry but 24K is a **** load of money for a blower. But then again I come from different roots then most of you.

Nah, that's what I meant. I mis-interpreted what you typed and thought you meant that it included more than just a power boost. The intercoolers + turbos are just part of how Porsche attains the power boost, you're still paying $17K for 35hp. Now whether that's worth it or not is up to the individual. It's not that bad of a deal considering the X51 Carrera Powerkit costs $12,000 and "only" bumps the hp by 25.

If porsche just wanted to give a power boost on the turbo they could just increase boost with the ecu which is why I said the x50 is far more than just more power. Larger turbos give the owner far more head room for tuning as the k24's can make much more power than the k16's. The strengthened tranny isn't how porsche attains the power boost and that is also included. The intercoolers also give more head room for further tuning. The x50 package isn't really that bad and if buying used it's the best way to go as the owner already took the initial hit.

Imagine if Porsche released an OEM supercharger for the 996/997. Same specs, same price, same 2-year warranty as the Ruf. I'll bet people would be falling over themselves to get it.
This Ruf supercharger is as close as you can get to OEM, from an extraordinarily well-respected and long-lived Porsche tuner.
People will be willing to pay more for Ruf, just like they would for OEM Porsche.
BTW, the 520 hp turbo conversion from Ruf (105hp increase) goes for $28k USD.
Personally, the only thing (and it's a big thing) that gives me pause is that I could nearly get into a used turbo for the 24K (plus my C4S in trade) that this blower costs.

I was thinking of getting the EVO SC for myself, but the only think making me think twice is the lowered rev limit.
I noticed that when I was reading thru the RuF SC write up at the RuF USA website that it includes new intake manifolds and sport cats. As far as I know, EVO doesn't include those parts. Maybe those plus the warranty makes the price not as painful to bear. Just my 0.2 cents
