Radar detector recommendation
Anyone have a radar detector they would recommend without reservation? I love the idea of a custom install- would appreciate any comments, pro or con.
Thanks
Thanks
I have a V1 hard wired...I like it a lot, one nice thing is it has arrows pointing where the radar is coming from; however, you get a lot of false alarms. I think the other good one is the escort. There are many threads about this you could find via search.

I have had a Valentine One since just after they became available. I currently own three of them...one in each vehicle. I have had one ticket in that 20 plus years. I take blame for that one ticket as I was going crazy fast to an appointment I was late getting to. I deserved that one.
I think my good fortune with Valentine One speaks volumes. Your mileage may vary.

Be careful getting a jammer, they are flat-out illegal in some states including Texas as of last summer. They will impound your car here if they catch you with it.
V1 for sure. I picked up a highway patrol car from 2.5 miles away about a month ago. It was amazing
There is never any substitute for good situational awareness...and a Nissan Maxima with of state tags and tinted windows about a quarter mile ahead of you, i.e., a "blocker".
Am an Escort man myself; no tickets in 30 years (while unit was deployed - record less than stellar when unit was stowed)

How do you disable just the X band? K is occasionally a cop, but I don't think X ever is.

I'm not sure about impounding your car, but you're correct that they are illegal in a few places such as Georgia, Virginia, Texas, etc. A LEO would never know that you have a jammer though if you practice "jam to kill" where you slow down, and kill the jammer immediately. I know many people who run laser jammers in Virginia with no issues with a stealthy install and who practice jam to kill.
I love my V1. Yes, it is chatty. If you buy the Escort, skip their LIDAR jammer. It is not very good and there are new guys it will NOT jam. If you are looking for a jammer then buy the LI. Does a great job (if installed correctly) and can be updated for new guns.
Call V! and see if they have any refurbished unit. You save ~$50. Other than that your only bet is used.
