who can tell me/us where i might find a nice simple round stainless or maybe black chrome shift **** for my car, been looking over the ethernet whatever-you-call-it and twm performance has nice ones but they don't fit the 997...i haven't yet tried to take this apart...would think it would just unscrew like my old 38 ford, but nooo, or does it? tia, kk

I went with this from Rennline and I am very happy.

It was a bear getting the old **** off.

Yea, they don't just screw off. Something about a 1/4 turn and twist locking mechanism. I just had one of the Rennline ***** in black aluminum installed. It's made specifically for the 997. Very nicely done.

Suncoast has them, and they are SIMPLE to install. Ask for Ryan.

It should be a 30 second procedure.

Grab the plastic cuff on base of the shift **** (the plastic cuff connects the leather or Alcantara shift **** cover to the shift **** itself.) Turn it clockwise to unlock the shift ****. Pull the cuff down to disconnect it from the ****, then grab the **** and pull very hard upward.

Note, in the photos below, you do not necessary have to pull the cover off to pull the **** off. Just grab the cuff and turn it, and pull down to disconnect.
