About to purchas '08 4S...has CPO what should I look for
I'm excited to officially join this forum in the very near future.
I'm about to purchase an '08 4S with 37k miles on it. The current owner is the 2nd owner. He bought the car 2 years ago from a dealer with 32k miles and it came with CPO. The CPO has about 1.5 years to go. As you can tell the current owner has put very few miles on the car since he had it.
Given that the car was CPO'd at 31k miles 2 years ago what things can I expect were done at that point and what things should I be on the look out for 2 years late. I know he has replaced the battery recently and has done the scheduled oil changes.
I'm planning on having the car looked at by the local Porsche dealer this week as an "inspection" A couple minor things I've noticed...
- Very slight bounce of the RPM's at idle. I've been told that this is normal for the car especially with the sport exhaust option which it has.
- Slight squeak of the breaks. Could just be brake dust. I'm assuming that when the car was CPO'd 6k miles ago they would have made sure the brakes were in great condition.
Any other advice, things I have look for, things I should have the dealer check. I figure that since it's still under CPO I will be in good shape to have them find and fix things.
Any thought would be most appreciated.
Best,
Jason

Make sure rear main seal is not leaking.
I bought a 09 C2S a month ago and took it to House Automotive in Pasadena and Greg for about $200 can give you some good advice on the car.
I then took the car to dealer to get all the items he pointed out that should be covered.
I had 2 weeks of factory warranty left. I had over $5K worth of covered work done thanks to him.
Good luck!

I just bought a CPO car with about a year left of warranty. (16K miles) I took it to Brumos Porsche (my local dealer) and my long time service advisor had the car gone through thoroughly. He found a couple of items covered under warranry and asked that I bring it back in before the warranty expires. He did find that the RMS had previously been replaced under wararnty by another dealer. It did not show up in my carfax or any other information I had. That information was very valuable to me.
Just do your do a PPI by a reputable dealer/independent shop and you should be good to go.

Thats great, but when I checked on mine, I discovered that it had another year on the original wrty plus 2 years for the CPO
The CPO adds two years to the original wrty, it doesn't run concurrently.

Don't get it looked at or worked on at Beverly Hills Porsche. Bought our '08 C2S there, great car, but their CPO inspection left out some OBVIOUS issues. All cosmetic, but not only did the inspection suck, but getting service done there is not convenient. Inventory, great, sales experience, good, but I wouldn't go back for work given the CPO oversights.
Maybe / Maybe not. If they had plenty of life left at the original CPO inspection they would not have changed anything out. Do you know how the second owner has driven the car over the last two years? If it is aggressive driving, then what were good pads, may be ready to be changed. I would just get it checked for wear. They will tell you the thickness on the rotors and pads and give a percentage of life left. Get the tires looked at too. They may have tread left, but that little amount of miles means that car is sitting a lot and flat spots might be occuring due to it sitting. These are just some genral things to check out.
