OK, I was the type that went into the dealership saying "MANUAL ONLY PLEASE!". The salesman said, no problem, but let's just try out the PDK. I'm 34 years old, been driving manuals since I first started driving. I know how to heel toe shift, and go through the gears properly. I love matching revs, and all that.. So I took him up on the offer.. I liked it a lot.. Enough to make the switch.. I bought the car, and after the first day started questioning it. "Man, I don't know, it's just not the same.. "

Fast forward 2 weeks later, and I would never go back to a manual transmission car. I love it. So precise, and fast. I was concerned that I would have to constantly be looking at the gear indicator to know what gear I'm in. Well, just like a manual, once I've gotten to know the car, I don't need to know. I can feel it. I can downshift to second intuitively, and hear the car perfectly blip the throttle as the engine purrs.. Seamless, shifting, and all at the same time, being in total control of the car with precision.

Just thought I'd post that another die hard manual guy, who judged a book by it's cover before even driving a PDK, drove one, bought one, and wouldn't go back.

 

Congrats and welcome to the dark side...

PDK is an amazing technology but the next manual car for me will be a GT3RS. I must admit, I do miss rowing through gears when I canyon carving with my buddies...

 

Good for you, have fun. Not for me though.
