Help do I need sport chrono on a 911 C4 GTS

Im getting a good deal on a 2012 gts coupe ($35k) off msrp with 500 miles but it does not have sport chrono!!
Is this a deal breaker?
Will this have a substantial impact on resale value?

Any insight is appreciated.

Thanks.

If the car has PDK, and if you run track days, SC is a plus. if it is a manual transmission, I really don't know what it adds. I have a GTS with PDK and only use SC at the track for the track oriented shift maps. I have never even read how to use the timer as I really don't care about my lap times.

It's a manual and no plan to track it.

Wow what a deal. Maybe instead of looking for used cars I should be looking at new 997.2 sitting on the lots. Can you PM me the dealers name? I think I might know which dealer it is and if its the same one I'm not having luck with them on a used sale.

Of course you don't need it. I'll even prove it. Don't buy it and see how quickly someone else does. Just post the dealer address.

Do not need SC for manual. Some may view it as a plus with no dash "wart". I happen to like mine and with PDK it's a must have option. A REALLY must have option.

You can have it retrofitted minus the dash wart for about $1,000 in parts plus labor. It wouldn't be a deal breaker for me, especially if your getting such a good deal.

I have it on my 6 speed, but rarely use it. I feel like the throttle is overly sensitive with it on. I definately agree since it's not PDK you don't have to have it.

Go for it. I have the sc on my
Manual 997.1 and it's almost worth 1k to do the retrofit and not have the ugly wart on the dash.

Thanks guys- I appreciate the responses.
This particular gts is heavily optioned, including PCCB, and has an msrp of $144k- dealer is asking $105k currently.
I'm very tempted!

I have the 6 speed in my 4 GTS and also the SC. I never drive without
the button is down. Otherwise I feel like the car has 30 HP less.

Sorry my bad english.

Greetings from Switzerland

Do the math:

$35k off MSRP
$895 for Sport Mode Upgrade (Suncoast)

The car is still over $34k off. The decision to buy the car shouldn't have anything to do with SC, it should be whether you want that car.

FWIW, I have a6spd GTS and NEVER drive it without Sport button pushed (but PASM usually set back to normal/comfort). It's almost an involuntary response: turn the key, press Sport button (and then press PASM to 'off' and PSE to 'On'). I could case less about the clock on the dash but love the more aggressive throttle response that SC adds.

You don't need it as long as the car still has PASM.

I'm glad that you got a great deal. I have to work on my negotiating skills. I am having not much luck on used cars in the 80 to 90k range. I would think I could get at least 5 to 10k off, but so far I am unsuccessful.

Any secrets on how you negotiated?
