A few months ago bro. There are various software upgrades. I think it depends on the pdk unit initially on you car. These upgrades are automatically installed when pdk units are replaced on some of the cars that had them replaced due to a malfunction. The original software is not good i have to agree. My experience is in slow moving traffic where it feels like the thing is just going to explode. Noise, roughness etc. all disappeared with the upgrade. One thing i enjoy is the acceleration in 7th gear. In relaxed mode i really dont like the abrupt downshift to 6th on any acceleration on 7th. Now software allows acceleration on 7th where the engines torque carries it.

 

An update on this one...been using sport mode more often and i noticed a nice tug on shifting when hitting redline driving. Its very sporty and really feels good and mechanical! The software update i had seems to have been making the shifts smoother and quieter as it learns. Whereas i had smoother shifts after the upgrade, there were some drivetrain noises on low speed upshifts that could only be heard not felt. Now as the software has adopted, the noises have disappeared. Really a happy camper with how the pdk now works on my car. Paddle shifts are still delayed in normal mode but almost 991 fast in sport mode. Have not tried sport plus.

 

Hey! Back to this thread. Shifts are even harder and faster in sport plus. There is no magic or danger in using it!

However, as noted, for my 2011, the dealer said there are no software updates or upgrades available. If anyone has a TBS or whatever they're called on the topic I'd love to see one. In the meantime I accept it for what it is, paddle response is really slow, most notably from 1 to 2. Flip in anticipation of wanting to shift. Or select auto, but in sport mode and it seems to shift almost exactly when I would shift it anyway.

 

Anyone have the aftermarket PDK software upgrade?
