PDK Software Upgrade to 991 Specs??
Anyone know of a way to get the 997.2 PDK to shift like the 991? Test drove a 991s and the PDK was much improved over my 997.2 with sport chrono.
Upshifts and and downshifts were significantly faster, thanks.

Sorry, no there isn't. Even with the latest PDK sw version for the 997.2, it is not possible to 'upgrade' the PDK to 991 specs.
Definitely Porsche won't offer anything. Any tuners out there that can chime in? Thanks.
After testing a 991 I went looking for PDK software updates. Everyone said couldn't be done, doesn't exist, or that there was no diff b/w the 991 and 997 PDK.
I considered trading my 997.2 for a 991 but didn't like the electric steering and some other things so I decided to hold out as I knew it was just a matter of time before some aftermarket company would address it.
Looking across the web I came across a Florida company known as 1016 Industries. They do software tunes and are well received for their R8 R-Tronic software.
I contacted them and inquired if they had one for the 997.2 PDK. They in fact did. I bought the software and loaded it. Very easy install, software comes on a writer that is plugged into the OBDII port. Took about 5 min.
All I can say is WOW. The software completely transformed the car. 1016 Industries (Peter) states shifts are 19% faster and it definitely is. Upshifts/downshifts are much faster, crisp and aggressive. Overall the update has made the car more immediate and importantly satisfying to drive. The delay bw pulling the paddle and the car shifting has been minimized
Still not as 991 fast but a huge improvement nonetheless. Shifts are fast but also have some feel to them. They don't feel so sanitized as the 991.
Definitely keeping the 997.2 for some time. Been enjoying it a lot lately and really look forward to driving it every chance I get. Couldn't say the same before the PDK update.
Here is video of the car after the software was loaded. Car is in Sport Plus mode:

Totally agree on the electric steering. And if I do get a 997.2 I will definitely be looking into that upgrade. Great video! Thanks for sharing.
List price $1599. Well worth it IMO.
991 is nice but doesnt have that raw sports car feeling. With this upgrade you can address the one huge shortfall with the 997.2 PDK.
Thx

Thanks for sharing and great angle with the gopro. What is that clicking noise? It makes me think that's when the car is shifting. Perfect angle to see you hit the paddles and watch the tach. Does it shift faster in normal mode too. What I don't like about the porsche pdk setup is that the engine sport mode is linked to the tranny. Would be optimum if they were separately controlled, like BMW does.
For info on pdk upgrades. If you guys have durametric, check the index number of the pdk software you have. If its a low number like 33 then its the old software. It shoukd have 44, 45 or 49 if im not mistaken. This upgrade nit only made the pdk perform better on sports and sports plus mode but also smoothen the shifts at normal mode. I would say almost like 991 levels if i remembered my road and track time with the 991.

Shifts faster in every mode.
