Since I used to do all of the alignments at a local Porsche dealer I found that all of Porsches cars are somewhat out of spec. This is apparently due to the way the cars are tied down during shipping.

I had mine aligned at Les Shwab. I don't think it is the lack of equipment, but lack of the proper specs for the 997. I printed out the specs off of post on Rennteam and brought them with me to Les Shwab. No problems, they gave before and after specs and it costed a total of $69.95 compared to $180 at my dealership.

Great price. I have an appt. on Wed. to have an alignment at my dealership and they're charging me $189. Can't find anyone else to do it in my area...

I just got back from the dealership and I definitely recommend getting an alignment after lowering your car. My specs were WAY off after putting on the springs. I also waited 3 weeks to get the alignment after lowering them and definitely went through some tread on my tires.

no surprise. 9.5 GT3s out of 10 have wacko alignment from Porsche. btw, there's no 0.5 car, so make it 10 will ya!
I found out some interesting information on this recently.

I have a DB9 with about 2500 miles on it. While it drove better than any other car I had driven to date, it seemed to have a little too much under-steer for a car with 50 50 balance. I noticed front tires were wearing fast so I requested alignment check. It was out on 3 of the corners. Left rear was even towed out.

The technician called the factory to let them know. It turns out that Aston Martins are assembled with the alignment parts set to standard measurements before assembly. They stated that when parts are tightened down they could be out. Cars are test driven for several checks, about 80 miles on average. As long as they feel that the car is ok, they don’t bother to ever put the car on an alignment rack.

I have had several cars come from the factory with less than perfect alignment. I bet Porsche does it the same way.

I would recommend that everyone complain that their car does not seem to drive right and get factory to check it on warranty.

There are different alignment racks. Look for a shop that has the latest equipment. My Audi Tech would not touch my car (knew that they could not get their rack under my car, was worried that their older equipment would scratch my wheels) and referred me to the only shop in San Diego North County with the proper equipment. Audi estimate was $180 and 7 hours, the shop I went to 32 minutes and $64.

I have the same problem. Roads here are very bumpy and sometimes i have to apply trailbraking to reduce understeer.

I 'm thinking to install spacers (front ant rear) and to check the alignment. Do you think that some negative camber would help?

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
