997 Alignment (friendly advice)
Hi everyone, I thought I would pass this on. As part of the H&R spring installation RUF also did a full wheel alignment on my car. When I got the before and after report from them I discovered that the alignment from the factory was WAY off. So much so that it would have caused severe abnormal tire wear if it wasn't corrected. I suggest that y'all get yours checked by someone you trust. My wheels were WAY outside the spec'd parameters on both camber and toe settings. It was well worth the $179 they charge.
really? that's really odd. Did u even notice that while driving?
was it pulling to one particular side or anything? I know this is a common issue with a lot of new cars, as one of my family friend ended up returning a brand new car cuz they could just not fix the problem and gave him another car. it was a honda accord though. lol
but i am not surprised.

Raja, this isn't the first time I've experienced this problem with a brand new car. My current S-Type R Jag was so far off that it wore the inside of the front tires down to nothing in less than 1000 miles, and let me tell you the tires on the "R" are not cheap. The guy that did the alignment said it was like pushing a snow plow down the road, the toe was that far off. I could definitely feel a difference in both cars (the Jag and the Carrera S) after the alignment. I'm not sure why this happens from ANY factory but one of the first things I do now after a purchase is have the alignment checked by an independent service establishment.

no surprise. 9.5 GT3s out of 10 have wacko alignment from Porsche. btw, there's no 0.5 car, so make it 10 will ya!

I remember you adjusted the steering wheel because it wasn't centered to your liking..........
PS.....thats the kind of cat Arling is, adjusted it 3 times (free of charge) before I could drive it home.
In other words, the boy is official like a referee with a whistle !

Once I am back from Cali, i should take my car in for alignment since I am not sure of the steering wheel vibration. Took it in twice and they said fixed. but only later it showed up. The second time they siad the tire PSI was low. I checked the PSI and they are all good but still slight vibration.
Does it matter where you get the alignment done at? I just installed my H&R Springs, and was going to take it to Tire Kingdom for the alignment. Or is it better to take it to a Porsche dealership?
Thanks.
Thanks.

To answer my own question...I took it to Tire Kingdom today and they don't have the proper equipment to do a Porsche. So you're right about the special tools.
