It's not nearly as bad as the Cayman key though as the rear trunk button on the Cayman is raised pretty high and there were many times I'd come out to the car and the hatch would be open.

I do wish it would give me a more positive indication of the doors being locked or unlocked. A beep or honk would be fine.
Check the 997 turbo section there is a write up on how to fix your key. You just trim down the button. Works great.

I thought that was just me. I literally never know if my doors are locked. What the hell, Porsche?

devil boy is infamous around these parts
I would prefer a more sturdy construction and the ability to fold up.

the 997 key is really ugly. its really too bad that porsche did not attend to this one. the 2 things that really peeve me with 997.2 the key and how the door closes. have a 98 merc s class and the key is way better than my 10 carrera s. 2 separate buttons for open and close and auto close of all windows including sunroof with a press of a button. folding key. is there no way to transfer the innards of our key to a better housing with these features??

This is what I was hoping to get out of this thread, but doesn't seem that anyone has tried a DIY Key transformation.

Thats. Going to be a bit if a work though. How to program a separate button to inlock. The folding thing could be easier.

I'm all about a folding key, Anyone crafty enough to try and attempt this? I've looked online about swapping internals, but don't want to swap like for like.

It's a lot less bulky than the switchblade key for either our Audi or our Volvo. I'll live with it.
