Porsche 997 Key, Love or Hate?

Ok, I decided to make this thread because of the keychain thread and the fact that I personally hate my 997 key. I think it's far too big, it's bigger than all my other keys by a mile, and protrudes out of my pocket. I don't have any Keychain's attached, most people get a kick out of the key. Personally I wouldn't mind having an alternative small key, perhaps one exists, I've yet to come across one.

I'm curious what the 997 community think's?

DallasDave is infamous around these parts
I'll go, it's Saturday ... I have left my key sitting on a counter before as I typically take it out of my pocket. If I'm with my wife, I give it to her to carry in her gigantic purse. It's too big, doesn't conceal (fold) or remote (keyless).

But once inserted in the ignition, becomes my big fun key.

Dave

Hate it, I like my Mercedes key. Which doesnt feel like a key at all. The new Porsche key is cool as well.

I don't hate the key, but my frunk has either opened by accident/had to stop and close it on at least 6 occasions due to accidental triggers from the key.

Like I stated in the key chain thread.
Being as large as a Porsche key is.... just the key a 3/4"ring with my Lojack key pass on it.That's way enough for the front left pocket in a pair of pants or shorts!lol

Are you Guys Kidding?
That is what an expensive car's key should be like.
Here's the reason behind my theory.
I was sitting at a bar alone and had thrown the car key on the counter.
The dumbest of college girls came and sat right beside me. I would not expect that woman to know $hit about cars.
She looks at my key and says in her young blonde girl voice, " OMG!! Do you drive a Ferrari? ".
I was ROTFLMAO. But True Story!!

I think the 997 key is one of the very best things about the car. I might be old fashion but I still prefer an actual key that plugs in, turns, and start the car. Most people are now used to the smart key/fobs even my parents think those are better, but I am not one of them.

To protect the key, I bought a pair of leather key holders from ebay and they have been great. Made of real and soft leather. They are cheaper and unlike the synthetic leather key fob I used to have on my BMW fobs which felt like some sort of knock-off product.

I can't believe that anyone of us, fortunate enough to drive such a great car, would complain about the key. I guess if that's all there is to complain about all is well.

I don't mind how big it is, it's the only key I carry when I'm driving it. BUT, the lock/unlock buttons are to easy to accidentally push. I have to hold it in my hand until I'm a safe distance away from the car, for fear of accidentally pressing the unlock button while in my pocket.

Shouldn't worry about accidentally pressing unlock as you walk away - if you do and the door is not opened, car auto locks within 30 seconds.

Love it. It has a nice presence. I do not, however have any keys/chain attached to it.
