Painting the Calipers

Not that I'm trying to pull off my 997 as a 997S, but I just dig the look of painted calipers.

Is there a special paint I need to look for? Any outfit in the Philly area that does this....?

I used the G2 Brake Caliper Paint System and it worked great. It's an epoxy paint and it's available in 11 colors. I went with high gloss black and then applied white PORSCHE decals from ebay. I also sprayed a clear coat to finish the job. Set-up, painting, decals, and clean-up took about 3 hours (not including drying time). 15 months later the calipers still looks perfect.

Thanks so much alpine-al. Where does one buy the G2 Brake Caliper System, and are there any precautions you would suggest? I assume you left the calipers on, and just covered the rotors and other adjacent parts?

PS...I just found that Amazon sell it.

Check out this thread started by JoelPirela. He wrote a good D-I-Y for painting calipers (scroll down to post #9). Big thanks to Joel!

Thanks so much guys. Joel certainly did an incredible job, but I'm not sure I'm up to the task. Since I don't have a garage, I can't allocate the time necessary to do the proper prep work, and the multi stage paint jobs. I need to look for a good local wheel or body shop that can do this for me professionally.

If I can do it you can do it. It's all in the prep and taking your time.

I did mine in silver - go for it!
