991 closes with a much more solid sound than the 997 door. I hate closing my door when there is a lot of people due to the sound it creates. Make me feel embarassed its on a porsche. Has anybody done any mods to make the door in our 997 close with a more solid sounding thud. Even the old mercedes slk's with similar frameless doors sound so much more solid! Its not only me because all the doors from bosters to caymans of same age sound the same!

Its a not so solid sound. Specially if you close it a bit strong. The 991 sound so much better. Whats funny is all the 997 s in the showroom sound the same. Even the caymans sound the same. When you close is softly it sounds ok but you need so much control. Im sure a lot have this. Maybe others can chime in.
I think that is the word authoritative. The door catches look the same on the 991 and 997. Ive asked the dealer to align the door so mahy times which they tried on all occassions. Have a very good relation with the dealer. What i do remeber though was the wide bodies cars seem to have doors that closed more authoritatively than the narrow bodied cars. Are the doors the same for the 2 versions?
Does the window function the same on the 991? Meaning does it raise the last 1/4 inch after the door is closed? That could be the difference. I have not looked at the 991's yet to know the answer to my questions. In my opinion, a door sounds more solid when it closes with an air tight seal. Just my thoughts...

Is there a case of a door difference from US versions and ROW? Well if everybody else in this forum has a solid sounding door then i guess my version including all those cars in our showroom that we demoed to compare with my car can be modified to sound like everybody elses in this forum. Just dont know were to start

Doors on my cab sound cheaply made when they close and exactly the same as the doors on my '01 Boxster when I had that. Sounds like the window rattling in the channels. Doors on my Jag close like a bank vault. if the problem with the Porsche can be fixed I'd love to know how.
Ya i hope someone has noticed this and done something to cure it. Boxst sound the same cayman sound the same 997 sound the same. I know its a porsche of that era just by hearing the door close. 993 door closing soudned sweeter. 991 better. Mercedes doors since time started..solid, r8 beautiful, porsche 997-what happen porsche?
My 997tt coupe sound nice and solid. I know the weather stripping plays a big deal on the sound of the door. Maybe your is worn out. I know F250 guys were inserting surgical tubing inside the weather strip to seal up the door better and a side product was a nice solid door sound.
