Moving from Texas to So Cal....Struggling with what to do with my baby.
Hi guys, thanks for all the replies. A couple of things...
-We are moving to Temecula, not Watts LOL
-Temecula is a pretty safe area but there is no dealership close. My C4S is under full CPO warranty until 2015 which is why I mention it.
-My car is my baby but I don't put it on a pedestal...much. It is not a daily driver, I didn't buy it for that use. I drive it when the weather is nice here in Houston which is almost never and truth be told THAT is the reason I have such low miles on my car.
-I was really asking how comfortable you guys feel leaving your cars out parked on the street at dinner or at a movie. I guess it really depends on where you live and even then it's a crap shoot.

i don't think there's anything wrong with temecula. other than the fact it's freakin' hot and in the middle of nowhere.
houses are cheap though and i wouldn't see any safety issues driving a porsche.
i think walter's porsche in riverside isn't that far away, probably a 45 minute drive max.

Could not agree more! Take and enjoy it.
If u sell, u r gonna regret it..
Temecula is a not a bad place to drive ur Porsche. They have rolling hills near the wine valley and the roads are fun and pretty smooth (unlike LA downtown).. & the route to San Diego over the hill is also a nice drive in a cab, as long as its not middle of summer.
Walters Porsche is about 35-45 mins away like Dethman mentioned.. and there is also couple of P-dealerships in SD. Anyways, u will want to find a local Indy for maintenance work.. and u can always flatbed ur car to the stealership for emergency CPO work.
Welcome back to Southern Cal

Drive the Porsche from Texas to Cali on Route 66 and smell the roses.. I think the forum guys are correct. Drive the sukker here you will like at ... there are millions of us driving around here... some even have Porsches !!
Bring it here. Try it out. If you don't like it, sell it then. If you like it, keep it. If it gets stolen, call insurance company.
You don't have to make the decision prior to relocating. Just my .02 of course.

Living in Texas with a Porsche sounds terrible. Unless you're in Austin, it's so flat and everybody drives the speed limit.
California is Porsche heaven. So many good driving days and so many scenic twisty roads. I can't believe you'd even consider not bringing it.
As for safety of the car, yesterday I parked on the city street and had a few beers in Highland Park. I was a bit nervous, but it's just a car and most people in SoCal are pretty respectful of people's rides. Remember this is car culture mecca. I'm always courteous, never park like a privilege jerk. When some at the gas station admires my car. I ask if they want to sit in it and check it out. Most are very excited to sit in a Porsche.
But if you're super concerned about your car getting messed just drive to places you know have good parking.
One other thing. Double check the tax rules on how long you've owned it. You may have to pay taxes to register in California. I think if you've had the car for 3 years you're cool, but don't quote me on that.

Been driving my Porsches in LA/Cali for 12 years. Never had any problems. Ever. Great part of the world to enjoy a car like a Porsche. Except while driving on Wilshire Blvd at the Mircale Mile. You need a 4x4 to get through it these days
I take/took them to independents for servicing. I recommend 200 North Motorworks and/or TRE Motorsports

Bring the damn car. Temecula has some great roads and you are very close to north and inland San Diego and not far from borrego. Killer driving roads. SoCal has amazing roads to enjoy the pcar. Bring it.
Re taxes he should be fine. Just have to register. Should not have to pay use taxes. Unless you just bought.... Def not 3 yrs though.
