Can I use PASM suspension on a non PASM car

This may seem a slightly strange question but I was wondering whether PASM suspension could be used without the PASM control. Does the controller monitor and adjust continuously or does it just switch between sport/standard mode defaults on the shocks.

Reasoning behind this. My 08 C2 cab came with PS9 coil overs and to be honest I am less than impressed with them as is my wife. Must be getting old I guess but I no longer particularly want a competition car on the road, particularly as this is the summer fun car. (Was different 25 years ago when I was running forest rally cars and a lot of the mods tended to migrate to my road cars....). I was wondering if I could fit a PASM set in place of ten bill steins.
Thoughts?

No. What would the point be without the controller?

Agreed, if you want a softer ride, get a set of OEM shocks and springs from someone selling them or from the dealer.

Thanks for the comments and i appreciate the opinions. However, question still remains - does the PASM controller work continuously or does it simply change between the 2 settings. Basically an on/off setting for the shocks (disregarding the effect of teh controller on other functions) I am aware that I can look for a standard set but I have access to a PASM set.

It works continuously, but also has the on/off function you mentioned.

The PASM suspension without the controller will default in Sport Mode giving a constant harsh and very uncomfortable ride on poorly maintained roads.

PS9's are adjustable for ride comfort. Have ypu made any adjustments to them to soften the ride ?

Maybe a suspension pro can help you set up the car better. I rode in a car a few years back with PSS9s that felt much more "plush" than my car.

I have PPS9s on my BMW. I can adjust them so they're a lot more comfortable than the stock BMW sport suspension. Or... make them stiffer.
