Tire Wear
I have 7700 miles on my 997...about 1000 of them with my H&R Springs on. After checking my tire pressure today, I realized my rear tires are pretty much bare and need replacing. I don't drive the car hard at all, besides a once in a while urge to gun it up to 100+ or take a turn a little hard.
So my question is, is this normal or is this premature? I thought I would at least get 10,000-12,000 miles out of these. Also I've been reading a lot about different tires, Mich. Pilots PS2, etc. Anyone make the switch yet?
Thanks in advance.

Most average 8-12K on the rears with any brand and replace the fronts every other time....

This may help. I have a 996tt, 2003 M-5, & 99c-5. They all recently neede d tires & after alot of research on this & other forums put the michelin ps2's on all 3 cars. I can't say enough good things about them. Very quiet tires with great grip & turn in response especially on the 996tt where I replaced pirelli's which were very unimpressive tires that became quite noisy after about 3000-4000 miles & had the steering feedback of a nice Caddy. The ps2's gave me the feedback that I remembered when I used to drive my brother's 1961 super 90 roadster & my father's 1965 356sc, which were telepathic. Geat, great tires & should be standard equip on all performance cars, Imho.
My 997 is my daily driver and while it may be a little more harsh than the stock springs, it's not bad at all. The only real problem that I have, is now that it's a bit lower, it gets to be a bit tedious watching out when going up driveways, big bumps, etc. If I don't enter or leave driveways at an extreme angle, I'll bottom out the bumper. Overall, it's a bit more harsh, but not bad at all. I'm glad I did it to mine... Hope that helps...
brings up a question...
I damaged a rear on my Gallardo - it is a PS2 and all four have around 2,000 miles on them
I just ordered 2 new rears....Should I change the fronts as well?
