Euro bumper on 997
Euro bumper on 997
Hi there - I noticed that the new 991 finally doesn't have the two extra bumperettes anymore. I'd love to get the same look on my 997.
I've read a few older posts on this forum about conversion to Euro bumpers - but then again they won't really fit the US license plate.
I have a few questions:
1) Will loosing the 5 mph bumperettes cause any change in insurance coverage i.e. loosing coverage in an accident?
2) Are these bumpers required by regulation or what is the deal they exist in the first place?
3) Are there other countries in the world where Porsche sells parts that have bumpers with US style license plate carve outs but no extra 5 mph bumpers? This would be the ideal OEM solution.
If not 3) then 4) any suggestions on good 3-party rear bumpers? And then same question whether those parts actually comply with US regulations

Hi - I had followed the conversion of your C4S last year. The GT3 RS bumper is awesome. But I already have installed the black chrome Fabspeed dual tips on my car and love them so I want to keep 4 exhausts. I could do a GT3 conversion but prolly not.
Killacam - so I assume the GT3TEK US-version bumper then also has the bumperettes and that's why you went with the european version? When you did your research, did you find that most third party parts also include the bumperettes on US versions?
