Porsche should bring back the Speedster

I was just looking at the '89 and '94 Speedsters and was thinking that I would love for Porsche to bring back the Speedster. It should be based on the C2S or C4S (leaning towards this since it's wider). I think it would do well. And don't forget about the legendary history of Porsche making Speedsters starting from '54.

What do you guys think?

BTW, last year at the Rodeo Concours car show Jerry Seinfeld displayed his custom ordered 993 "Speedster" that was based on a C2S. It was silver/blk with sports seats and euro tail lights and it looked sick. The car was for sale too.

How cool is it that he can custom order cars from Porsche? For the first time in my life I'm so jealous.

i would order one immediately, for some reason the speedster has always struck a chord with me, imo they were a very pure form, somewhat simple

aaaah yes, 911 speedsters.

there was of course the factory '89 (in turbo-look only for north america, although they came in narrow and widebody in Europe) and '94 Speedsters...

and then there's the one-offs. Seinfeld's car, Gemballa Extremo, Cargraphic, Strosek

The only main problem with the 911 Speedster was that unlike the original 356, it wasn't quite the barebones racer. But, I happen to like them and they have a pretty strong enthusiast following judging from the prices the clean examples bring these days. It would be nice to see a 997 Speedster

Recently, I've started liking the '89 Speedster more than the '94 Speedster. I think it's better looking. I really don't like the 964 911's except for the Turbo 3.6.

That would be pretty sweet. I was thinking more along the lines of something based on the Carrera 4S cab since the AWD cars are slightly more rigid, GT3 drivetrain, lighten the car down by partially stripping sound deadening and getting rid of all the fru fru luxury stuff, ltwt carpet set with GT3 (CGT?) seats, and trademark clamshell, low-slung windshield and chintzy top. They'd sell like hotcakes if priced somewhere within the mid-90K range.

i think a new Speedster would be priced btwn a C4S cab and a Turbo cab, especially if it's based on a C2s or C4s cab.
