Price penalty for MULTIPLE owner C2S?
I beg to differ. The difference between a C2 and a C2S is night and day (and that's really an understatement). I've spoken with many C2 owners that have regretted their purchase. They inevitably end up modding their rides in hopes of more performance at a cost delta that's greater than the original S purchase.

Hell, I'm one of those guys. I don't see a place for the non-S models, other than to lure people into what they THINK they are going to get.
If you never drive an 'S' or a Turbo, you might make it out unscathed...
I believe the OP was suggesting that he could, for slightly more $, move from 997.1 C2S to a 997.2 C2 territory. The DFI, extended warranty, better PCM, and (this is matter of taste) aesthetic improvements in front bumper cover and LED's make the 997.2 C2 an attractive alternative to a 997.1 C2S. Re: the inevitable "on the track comparison" - one would need to be able to drive the base model at its limit to feel that he/she didn't purchase the right car.
I agree with the comments by other regarding C2 versus C2S. Until you have driven them you don't realize the difference. I purchased my current P car used from the original owner. He was member on this forum which was interesting. It allowed me to go back and see his earlier post. It gave me a bit of insight into the type of person I was dealing with. In the end it was a beautiful C2S that had modes which included GT3 RS kits (very well done) Exhaust, wheels and only 8K miles. I had friends on another forum I frequent offer to go look at the car for me, you might try that here as well. I ended up flying one way to PhI PA from Portland OR, purchased the car and spent 4 fantastic days driving (alone) home. I did the same thing a few years earlier with a 993 I purchased in St Louise. In both cases I had no regrets. I would do it again in a heartbeat. It has been my experience that when you buy the lower model you end spending the difference trying to make it the upgraded model. I love my 08 C2S. If I upgrade it will only be up
. Enjoy the hunt, its actually the most exciting part for me. I tend to get tired of the car after a few years and go looking for the next new ride.

One more quick comment. We purchased my wife a Boxster back in 2000. We drove the Base Boxster and then the S. Even my wife noticed the difference which is saying a lot. She's one of these women that listens to a 30K High End stereo system and claims it doesn't sound any different than her car stereo.
That car has been at Aristocrat for a LONG time, definitely all summer. For a local P-car indie shop, I've been told that the guys at http://rennsportkc.com in Grandview are pretty good. I haven't had the chance to go out there and meet them, but it seems that they know their stuff.
Did you find a car yet? My experience was to search the CPO Porsche site.. I did not limit the search..Like you, I couldn t locate a local car to my specs. Came up with 09CS as I wanted, CPO, 5K miles, white, 6 spd, coupe... It was at Ft Meyers Porsche in Fla.. 1300 miles away.. Made offer by phone after several long phone conversations. pics and documents e mailed to me with the understanding when I got there I could kill the deal with no cost to me (For no reason). They descibed the car perfectly, no suprises, drove it home. PM me if you want the guys name to deal with.... Don t settle. Like many have said, some areas have lots to chose from and to spend alittle money to get it or ship it would be worth it to get what you want. Good Luck.
BTW/ Did you see the owners list on that car? There may be auction to dealer to dealer ownership that may explain so many in such a short time.

Wow guys...sorry, somehow this thread slipped off my radar when I was out of town a while back. THANK YOU for all the follow up posts!!
I have not bought anything yet.
nitrobrother - thanks for the heads-up on that shop! I did not know about them, fairly convenient to me in Overland Park!
I did go full circle with the subject car, the 06 C2S with the 7 owners of record. I went back and looked it over closely. It's got some unusual wear on the center console and some little things here and there but overall a nice looking car, low miles and loaded. I hinted around to the salesman about what I might pay for the car based on the pain in the *** I will inevitably face when I have to resell the car...low $40's. I really got zero interest from the dealer. For a car that's been sitting there ALL summer as nitrobrother indicated and history shows, I would think they would jump at someone that could get it off the lot before Xmas. Sounds like fate...I'm moving on.
I did look over some used 2010 cars they had there (extremely overpriced) and really like the interior and other changes a lot. So I keep coming back to the 09-10 regular C2 cars, a number of them at or around $50k give or take. I think power wise I would be happy. Not sure on the suspension though? On a non-sport chrono car what kind of money would I spend IF I wanted to firm up or improve the handling? Would this ultimately be better suspension than say stock PASM?
