Rattle from engine bay
Rattle from engine bay
Brought my car in for a injector service and when i got it back it was idleing rough and had a slight rattle in the engine bay. Also the throttle was not normal. Once you started to push down on the gas it had a hesitation. Well I brought it back to the dealer. And after a few days I called and was informed they are pulling the transmission? Any ideas on what could cause this? I did not get to talk to the mechanic yet just wondering what it could be. At least it was done while under CPOW.
Seems odd to me, you have the injectors cleaned, its idling rough - problem #1. Return for idle issue, rattle in engine bay and they say the xmsn has issues? Fishy! Watch that dealer closely, they might be covering up a serious boo - boo by the mechanic or they just have no clue what they are doing. It just doesn't make sense.
Well I got to talk to the service dept today and the tech found the flywheel was bad and coming apart. That is what was rattling. In the techs note the idle appears to bve a seprate issue and he will diagnose that next, but he thought spark plug/coils. I had the plugs replaced at the same dealer 5000 miles ago last year so that should not be the problem. I am glad it started to idle rough so I could here the noise before the CPO went out in Jan 13.
I'm sorry but.... myself having learned over the years that having your dealer or any other independent sell you on an injector cleaning is one big waste of $100 and up!Today's gasoline runs so much cleaner because of the so many additives it is not necessary.Dealers do anything to make money and the fact that they can sell this easy service makes them that much richer!Do some studies on today's gasoline. Just my two cents!
I agree %100 but I wanted the car inspected by the mechanic before Jan so the cheepest easiest way was the injector service since they do a full inspection at any service. Plus everything else was up to date. They also found a blown door speaker while it was in the shop so it was money well spent for me.
Not a bad technique! What exactly did you tell them, the injectors plus a full inspection? How did they write it up and what were they going to charge you?

Well the last time it was in they wanted to do the injector service on the car and i declined. So when I brought it back and wanted them to do an inspection he told me the best way was to do the injector service because the inspection is done with any service. The service was about $200 or so.
