2007 911S Exhaust Question
Darin can provide ceramic coated tips as well. He did mine and the muffler hack. Love Love love it.
PM me if your interested in going with something after market. Our catted X-pipe w/ sport mufflers can be viewed at this video.

I have a full Fabspeed setup that I'm very happy with - High-flow, equal length headers, Valvetronic mufflers, 200 cell X-type cats. This setup with the valvetronic lets you make it quieter when desired or louder and less restrictive for max performance and sound. In quiet mode, it's a little louder than the FVD Mufflers I removed, and in louder mode, the sound is just awesome - deeper and racier. This type of setup is obviously quite a bit more expensive than a Gundo Hack or just changing the mufflers, but in my case, gave me exactly what I was looking for. The Gundo hack essentially changes the stock mufflers to have an exhuast path like the Porsche PSE (Porsche Sport Exhaust) has when it's valves are in performance mode (like my Valvetronic setup), but all the time. Congratulations on the new car and enjoy!

Volnomad, I did as part of a custom rear bumper job I was doing. Pretty much just searched Rennlist and 6speed for the necessary DIY articles on how to remove a rear bumper and install an exhaust system. The new rear bumper has some side vents and had slightly offset attachment locations so I fabricated some aluminum X-brackets that attach the new bumper to the factory mounts and also help stabilize the heat shielding since some of it was cut-away. The rear bumper is now more securely mounted than the factory one was. I customized the factory heat shielding in the area of the vents and now the valvetronic mechanisms are visible through the vents (you can see the vacuum solenoids move when the Sport Exhaust button on the dash is pressed) and the bumper vents also let air in to push heat out while underway. The Fabspeed exhaust parts are just gorgeous and once polished up are worthy of being visible from the outside of the car. I also have a Fabspeed Carbon Fiber Competition Air Intake. I attached a few photos for you.

Petza, thanks a lot for the pix and the explanation. You are obviously much more handy than I am if you can fabricate and customize! I'm all thumbs.
By the way your bumper (and car) look awesome!

killacam, It's a RUF. The spoiler and decklid are one piece with functional venting all the way across the decklid and were done as part of the R-Kompressor supercharger kit. The spoiler is fixed in the upper position you see in the photos. The bumper is also a RUF and is what they call their RGT-style with the through-bumper oval tips. The tips are custom to match the oval openings in the bumper and I was pretty lucky as this was the last bumper cover of it's kind available from RUF in Germany, as they no longer have the mold that was used to make them. I had to have some custom exhaust work done to have the standard "muffler to tip" pipes of the Fabspeed exhaust match up to the pieces from RUF that came in the bumper kit but it all worked out very nicely. Nice avatar photos BTW
Volnomad, just doing an aftermarket exhaust is a pretty straightforward process as the ones I'm familiar with match up to the factory mounts and bodywork, without any fabricating required. It was the RUF bumper and the way I wanted it done that made mine a more involved project. You can do as much or as little of an exhaust as you like. My car originally had OEM headers, RUF cats, and FVD Mufflers, with OEM PSE tips, so individual pieces work together as long as the clamp styles are the same. I believe the headers to cats mounts are pretty universal (rounded triangles with 3 bolts & nuts per side). Some Mufflers outlets to the pipes that connect to the tips use more of a V-shaped clamp setup (like the Fabspeeds) and others use more of the rounded ball-joint type clamp setup. Since the mufflers and secondary pipes usually come as a set, there shouldn't be a compatibility issue with those.
Good luck on your exhaust project.
