headlight p/n differences

I've got to replace a headlight (right) and in searching for a replacement, I've run across several capsules that are just like the one I am replacing...they difference is the p/n.

I can't seem to find the "differences" between various p/n's.

I have a 997.631.057.23 which is a xenon / halogen capsule. I've found several others which are the same in appearance but end in .21

Does anyone know how to verify the parts are the same?

Thank,
N437D

I have a feeling that the last two digits indicate how many times that part has been revised. This could be due to simple things like a new manufacturer for that particular part.

Oops. Mine is a 2009 (997.2) 911 Targa 4S

Sorry about that...My last wife knew everything, so I just kind of got used to that. Then again she didn't know I would upgrade her for a 6ft tall 25yr old. So maybe she didn't know everything after all!

Better call that ex again - do you have dynamic cornering lights - there's a part number for those that ends in 21 and there's a different part number ending in 23. Take a look here:

Pages 905-00 and 905-01

Thanks JH. I've saved a copy of the catalog for future reference.

I know I don't have the dynamic corning lights, so that eliminates those. It is surprising that so many lights are the "same" just a slight variance in the p/n based on the year produced.

Not finding the 997.631.057.23 part number, typo perhaps?

997.631.157.23 is a left Xenon headlamp (option code 601)
997.631.158.23 is a right Xenon headlamp (option code 601)

The entire series from .20 to .22 have been superseeded by .23 They should be interchangable.

See the alternate stock code at Jim Ellis Porsche http://www.jimellisporscheparts.com/...763115723.html

Thanks to all so far that have offered help. I've taken a photo of the actual p/n tag. I actually did start to think I had made a typo error when I wrote down the p/n, but it is a 997.631.057.23 and on a 2009 Targa 4S. So I'm pretty sure I can replace it with a 997.631.157.23

This all started because a special needs boy took a machete to my headlight in the office parking lot...Yes, a 8yr old w/ special needs + machete = expensive repair...at least he didn't hit the body.

Did this work? I have base halogen 997.631.157.24 and looking to upgrade/retro to 997.631.057.23
Possible? plug and play?
Any help appreciated
