Headlight alignment/adjustment

My headlights do not sit correctly in the fenders. How easy is it to remove them and can the fit be adjusted? Also, how do you adjust the beam height? Unlike most cars, you can't really reach behind the headlights. I searched the forum and DIY, but didn't find anything.
Thanks!

The owner's manual shows how to remove and adjust - look in the index under "headlights". BTW, which car are you adjusting?

If the headlights do not sit correctly in the fenders that doesn't read like an adjustment problem but an installation problem. It is not that hard to mis-install the headlight into the fender. I had one come loose once while on the freeway because it was not installed correctly after a headlight bulb replacement, by me.

I've never had to have the headlights adjusted for either of my Porsches and one has over 262K miles on it and the other over 102K miles.

Hmm, not that hard to misinstall, gotcha. I suspect they were not correctly installed after a clear bra install. This is on a .1 TT.

Thanks, I'll open that manual! I guess the bulbs are a service item, so I should have checked their first.

Just so it is clear it is not the bulb that is not installed correctly it is the headlight housing that is not installed correctly in the slots of the tray that rests on the floor of the opening in the fender.

It is tricky to get the pins/posts on the headlight assembly lined up with the slots in the tray and the headlight all the way back completely in the electrical connector and using the wrench secure the headlight in the opening.

As I mentioned earlier I failed to do this and the headlight went dark on a long, dark (oh was it dark) stretch of I-40 east of Flagstaff late one winter night.

In a rest stop when I checked the headlight I noticed it not fitting very well and in fact a bit loose. I got it back in better this time but had the thing checked by a tech at the dealer near me when I got home and he still found room for improvement.

For a porsche, it seems to me one cannot install it improperly. Its either installed right or it does not light up. I dont think the connectors will connect if the pins did not settle on the rail correctly.

Agree...plus the locking mechanism probably won't work properly. It takes a good turn of the special wrench plus you feel and hear a loud click when the assembly is seated properly.
