How many revs is 2 much

I rev my 997.1S to The limit every single gear and every single time! My friend With a BMW 1m said I am going to blow The engine. How many out there does The Same .
As long as the high revs are from acceleration rather than downshifting I thought this was fine. After all the rev limiter is there to protect the engine in tat case..... it also depends on the car RX7s they recommended you bounced it off the rev limiter when ever you took it out, my Honda civic type r didn't really have much power until you got it into the higher rev ranges
I am no expert however..

I'm curious...What's your gas mileage? 10mpg?
People who track their cars keep the revs up high for extended periods of time. They are designed to be driven hard. It puts added strain on the engine, but they don't explode.
That said it's not everyday, every time they drive. If you're doing this, I'd put the car on a shorter maintenance interval. I'd also do oil analysis and maybe get a third radiator kit to keep it cool.
Lastly there's not much sense to bouncing off the rev limiter. The car stops making useable power before you hit it. Also every time you hit it, it gets logged in the DME, so the potential next owners will know they're buying the car from a hoon.

Reving it up to 6000 or 6500 will yield basically the same performance without leaving ample evidence that you are constantly flailing the car. The DME report on your car might scare away a lot of potenial buyers if you were to have it on the market. Otherwise hitting the rev limiter on upshifts in not catastrophic. I, for one, would not ever consider buying your car.

RX7s are not good for comparison as rotary engines have no rev limit. NASA got a stock motor up to 22,000 rpms. They would have gone for more if they could have figured out a way to do it. The only reason there's a redline on a rotary is for the gearbox.
