Where can I buy brake fluid strainer cap?
Where can I buy brake fluid strainer cap?
I flushed my brake fluid this weekend for the first time. I opened the cap to the brake fluid reservoir and then used pliers to pull out the strainer.
It looked damaged and the wiring on the bottom is coming apart.
Do I even need this part?
Also, does anyone know where I can buy a new one? I called Suncoast and they said that my best bet would be to buy a new brake fluid reservoir and that the strainer may come included with that, but they don't sell the strainer by itself.
Here is a pic of mine.

I guess I will just leave it out, unless I can find another one somewhere.
try a google search on Porsche salvage parts.... I used one years and years ago, my memory is not that good.

My car is a 2007 GT3. I am thinking the part doesn't do anything but I would just like to have a new one since mine is a little bent.
yeah i take mine out to baste out fluid as well. they do sort of "seat" in there and only seem to pop out a certain way so that's prob what happened to yours - got caught.
in any event as stated above, the only obvious purpose appears to be catching any contaminants from fluid fill can. as long as you strain any fluid (thru a screen? cloth? whatever), you will be fine.
