IMS? Urgent. Pics inside.
Sorry guys. Like I said I promise to keep you posted. IT IS IMS. The engine should be opened in a couple of hours but I'm already on the hunt for the new engine. I would be very surprised if engine would be ok.
So we know what the problem is. We're just waiting to see what's the aftermath.
I did however find all ***** and both pieces of IMS bearing!
Thanks guys for your support and best wishes. Unfortunately there is no aftermarket warranty that would cover this car for failures in Slo and the car is out of factory warranty... so.... Paying for this by myself... Better get back to work

If you found all ***** and it was running fine, is the engine "actually" broken? Did you see Holden's post? I am just curious as to the actual state of the engine.
I'll post pics and more info later today. I'm still waiting for the engine to be opened.
I've seen Holdens post. And I've been thinking the same myself. But I would hate to get my hopes up. The chance of IMS failure PLUS turning the engine back on and still doing no damage is very slim.
@kemc: I had smaller IMS

If the damages on the ***** and races are minimal, I have a good feeling your engine can be saved!
Here are some other steps to check:
1. check the IMS shaft for any damage, bent or twisted. Probably not.
2. cut open the oil filter, here you will find part of the plastic seal, bearing cage, and some metal from the bearing. This is a good thing, the filter is doing its job.
3. drop the oil pan to clean the rest of the debris (plastic and metal) from the pan and oil pump.
4. Install a LN IMS retrofit kit.
If anyone can add to this, please do so.

That new Corvette starts looking better and better when you hear this stuff that keeps on happening. NO wonder you can buy a C2 for next to nothing!! Just sad to hear fellow Porschenites are getting the shaft, IMS and RMS!
Today I got a call from my indy. It was an IMS failure (as you could see from pics I posted before).
GOOD NEWS! It looks like there is no damage to engine! Hopefuly they won't find anything after detailed check tomorrow.
For me this is a difference between 700$ fix and 10.000$ fix.
I'll post pic of the engine and all the parts involved by Sunday. FINGERS CROSSED!

I just wanted to have all options lined up so I can get my car back on the road asap.
I found a great 2006 engine with 40k miles in Germany for 10.000$ (including transport). I'm lucky to get work done for absolute minimum cost (basicaly for free) since I have a really good relationship with my indy (recommended!).

You can also have your indy perform the items I listed above.
Good luck and awaiting for your pic of the repair.
