Sudden Stall with Oil Warning????

Hello,

I have an 05 cab S with 32K, no past problems or issues. After about a 20 minute highway drive at 75mph or so, I pulled into a parking lot for a quick errand. As I was slowly rolling into the space, the car stalled. The car would not restart and a red warning message came on and said something like "oil pressure too low". I thought, " Oh ****." I got out and looked under engine to see if there was oil leaking, or anything else. Nothing at all. I ran the quick errand and tried the car after about 5 minutes and after a couple seconds, it turned over and drove perfect for 10 minutes home. After a couple hours i started it again, and it fired right up.

The oil pressure gauge was at 100% under throttle, as usual and all other gauges were normal. Does anyone have any idea what happened?

Thanks in advance.

No idea but its evidently not normal, I would bring it in to see if it dropped any codes.

Oil pressure, like strange noises, isn't something I would let simply slide by. I would get it checked out as a very VERY short time without oil pressure (especially if it happens at highway speed) can cause a catastrophic failure.

When my car dies due to me not paying attention the clutch/gas pedal combination, I often need to take the key out of the hole and reinsert it for the engine to turn over. Did you take your key out?

Sorry, but I don't remember the oil message. As you know, our dash is like a Xmas tree when starting the car.

this happened to me at VIR when i spun out (oops) in T1. i thought it was oil starvation due to high g's in the 180 spin. but maybe it has something to do with electronics/stalling the engine?

If the ignition was still on and the car stalled it would report low oil pressure.

opinion or fact? since the incident it's not like i havent continued to drive it like i stole it, nor am i brooding over it...BUT, this would def make me feel better if "confirmed" as an elec/stalling behavior.

Think about it. If, in your situation, the car stalled as you coasted to a stop clutch in and ignition on the engine would not be turning over. If that was the case there would not be any oil pressure to report to the computer.

hey, i'm as logical as the next guy and yes your explanation makes sense BUT i've also seen a faulty MAF sensor activate ABS/PSMwhile accelerating 120mph+ down the main straight of a track so...you can understand if i'm doubtful of when discussing the "logic" of porsche electrical systems!
