I was just about to post that same question....

 

I went the other way. 1 in a 3 car garage.

 

The manual says not to lift the car for storage since the shock shaft is exposed and may corrode...

 

Squeezing 4 cars into a 3-car garage is not that impressive; it's an increase of only 33.3%. I routinely used to park a Landcruiser, a 911, and a sailboat in my small 2-car garage, by slotting the 911 under the V-hull of the sailboat. That's an increase of 50%; even more impressive if you consider that a boat is considerably wider than a car!

 

The lift has locks, so in regard to it falling down and crushing my BMW, it won't happen. The shock shaft may corrode, but that car doesn't spend it's whole life up there. When the weather gets really nasty, I pull all the cars inside this way, it's less wear and tear on the shock shaft than it is to have my wife take a snowbrush to a vehicle's paint.
