997.1 Carrera S - decat - test pipe - de res - question

Has anyone tried to decat/using test pipe/de-res (whatever you name it) on the stock Carrera S exhaust system?

how does it sound? pros and cons? can't really find vids on youtube, they're all decat / test pipe vids with aftermarket mufflers.

Thanks !

Don't do it. I regretted it. Huge power loss. It really hurt to drive it

Cheers

I have a c2s with the gundo hack and fabspeed no kat x-pipe. Sounds just like a cup car. (Loud!) but awesome at the same time. Yes I did have some low end tq loss. But the car gained hp at the top end. In two weeks time I'm getting the ecu flashed to gain back the tq. And I will have some dyno numbers for you.

Depends on your budget. You either buy new sport cats and do gundo hack. Or keeps stock cats and buy muffler bypass pipes. It will be really loud!! Btw I have them forsale. Pm me if interested. Search my ppsts and you will find my exhaust video with 200cell cats and bypass pipes. You also buy the whole set up which most expensive.

Which tuner will be reflashing your ECU? I'm curious to see the numbers as I've yet to hear of a tuner who's ECU reflash regains you the low end torque lost when removing the cats. I only ask because I've got a catless x-pipe and have been looking for the same thing (though I dont seem to mind the lose of low end tq as much as others here)

I installed X51 headers, Fabspeed Supercup exhaust, 200 cel sport cats and ECU tune on my 06 C4S. The sound is very aggressive, but that's what I wanted. I did notice a small loss below 3500, but the gains above 3500 are huge. It's a different car!

i may have some 200 cell cats for sale here soon!

they totally improve high end power.. especially from 45 to up and over 100.

the car just breathes better but you will loose that nice deep tone the pse gives you in you have that option. its more raspy and free flowing sounding with performance cats.. i am told that can be brough back with upgraded headers

200 cell cats give you high end power and sharper trottle response.. bottom line

Mike

Thanks guys! I'll look into the Gundo Hack! curious to know is there a way to make our watercooled 911 sound as raw and sweet as an aircooled ?

I have cat-bypass pipes with stock mufflers and really like it. It has a good tone, quiet down low, and screams above 4K.

low end torque.. but honestly the 911 is not a car you launch! the gains up top are well worth the mod.

i really think cats alone are worth the money!

i may add headers to see if low end torque is raised!

my car is considerably louder with the cats.. that just goes to show how much restriction the oem cats bring

i would not de-cat my car.. i think it would be too loud and lose too much power down low.. not to mention lets try to be green
